A splash screen at startup and a proper application icon.

What's new

Splash screen. The app now greets you with artwork instead of an empty window: a tree whose crown is half foliage, half treemap — the metaphor the program is built on. It appears immediately at startup, before Direct2D and DirectWrite are even initialised, stays for 1.5 seconds and then fades out. Clicking it dismisses it at once. The image is scaled to the monitor's DPI and centred over the main window.

Technically it is a layered window: the JPEG lives in the executable's resources, is decoded through WIC into premultiplied BGRA and drawn with a single UpdateLayeredWindow call. No Direct2D involved, which is why it can be on screen before the rest of the app is ready.

Application icon. The program finally has its own icon — in the window title bar, Alt+Tab, the taskbar and Explorer.

Install

Download WinDirStat2026.exe and run it. No installation, no dependencies, ~621 KB.

The binary grew from ~170 KB because the artwork now ships inside it: the icon and the splash image account for the difference.

SmartScreen may warn about an unknown publisher — the binary is not signed. "More info" → "Run anyway".

WinDirStat2026 v1.2.0 — 5 languages, stop button, contacts

Five interface languages, a stop button for long scans, and author contacts in the app.

What's new

Five languages. English, Russian, German, French and Spanish. The switcher sits in the top-right corner; your choice is remembered and restored on the next launch. On first run the app follows the system language, falling back to English when it is not translated. Size units are localised too (Ko/Mo/Go in French).

Stop button. Interrupts a running scan — the map keeps whatever was already collected. Shown only while scanning.

Author contacts above the filter buttons: email and Telegram, both clickable.

WinDirStat2026 v1.1.0 — фильтр по типам файлов

Фильтрация карты по типам файлов, категория «логи» и заметно более чистая отрисовка.

Что нового

Фильтр по типам. У каждого типа в панели справа появился чекбокс. Снимите галочку — файлы этого типа исчезнут с карты, площади пересчитаются по оставшимся, дыр не будет. Структура папок сохраняется: оставьте только .jpg, и увидите всю иерархию каталогов, где лежат одни картинки. Применяется сразу по щелчку, без кнопки подтверждения.

Категория «логи». Отдельная строка ниже списка типов включает все файлы, у которых log встречается в имени или расширении, без учёта регистра: app.log, Install.LOG, debug_log_2024.txt, CBS.log. Работает поверх остальных галочек — удобно искать разросшиеся журналы, не перебирая расширения.

Кнопки «Выбрать все» / «Снять все» для всего списка разом.

Путь под курсором переехал в верхнюю строку — раньше он писался внизу поверх плиток и перекрывал разметку.

Отсечение подпиксельных веток. Раскладка прекращает спуск, когда прямоугольник тоньше пикселя: рисовать там нечего, а поддерево может быть огромным.
