👋 My name is Kathy Hämmerl. I am a PhD student at TU Munich in Computer Science (though I spent much of my PhD at CIS, LMU). I'm supervised by Alex Fraser (TU Munich) and mentored by Jindřich Libovický (Charles University, Prague). My research interests are multilingual models, cross-lingual transfer, and how they function. I'm affiliated with and supported by the Munich Center for Machine Learning. During the second half of 2025 I was on an internship in Berlin with the wonderful Lilt.

🌱 In my master's thesis at CIS, I already explored getting (more) language-neutral representations in multilingual encoder models.
