PPA for Ubuntu LTS and Regularrelease

The script is a great idea. However in my opinion it would be great to have an ppa for Ubuntu to make the Installation and updates more userfriendly.

Does the package created by the script install any kernelmodules or are the files just userspace components?

I have tried your script. Installing the package worked. But clinfo showed me only one string for plattform. There was no device or driver section displayed. Blender was not able to find an compatible gpu.

OS: Kubuntu 20.10 (Kernel 5.11)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700

I'm sorry, I didn't notice the issue earlier. Thanks for trying the script!

My intention was to provide the script to interested users who could then extract the OpenCL stuff from the official driver themselves. You'd need to do that only once per new driver release and can copy the resulting .deb file to other machines.

I did not want to redistribute parts of the official driver from AMD end potentially get into trouble with them.

When installing eg. amdgpu-ocl_20.40-1147286.deb all it needed was the additional library ocl-icd-libopencl1 to show plattform, device and driver version. I tested this on Vega 56 ad Radeon VII.
