Manifest generation fails to get game information. 404 error occurs.

I get the following error when trying to update the manifiest with the following command:
gogcli.exe manifest generate --lang=english --os=windows
GetGameDetails(gameId=1207664643) -> body download handle retrieval error: did not expect status code of 404

There is no output from gogcli.exe except the above. I updated my cookie information so I think that there isn't a login problem.

This seems to be different problem then the other reported 404 issue.

The last time I successfully updated the manifest was on 8/21/2026.

I changed the log level to debug and it looks like it does process the game for awhile but it now gets the same error message eventually. Perhaps the problem is just the GOG server not responding and the issue is not with gogcli at all. I'll try some more later.

I tried using SkipUrls based on the last manifest I got but got the same error message.

I ended up modifying the AddGameDetailsToGames function in manifest-game-getter.go so that GameIDs in a text file called "SkipGameIDs.txt" would be skipped when getting the manifest. The modified function is a below. Since I don't know the GO language, I used Google AI to make the needed code changes. A cleaner fix would be desirable than the hack that I did.

Apologies for the delay. I don't have the game in question, but I have encountered 404s before.

In my experience, gog has two kinds of bad download issues:

• Catalog placeholder entries that aren't meant to be downloaded
• Bad download links in your game library (their CDN is annoyingly inconsistent where sometimes, you can have a bad download that affects only people in your area, but not most GOG customers)

gogcli will automatically filter out the first kind of "bad" downloads as these are entries that were not meant to be downloadable anyways, but rather than omit downloadable files that have bad download links, it will abort in failure.

You can usually figure out when the file has a bad download link on GOG's end by going to the affected game in your gog library in your browser and try to download the affected file. You should get some kind of download error there as well.

For years now with gogcli, it's the only kind of bad download I got from gog servers (that and the occasional 500 when their servers are overwelmed) so if you are using a recent version of gogcli and it gives you a 404, it's almost certain that the problem is reproducible in your gog library.

At that point, you have two choices:

1. Decide that you do want the file and contact gog support, giving them details of the specific file you can't download from your game library (don't tell them you are having the issue with gogcli, it's an unofficial client that they aren't officially supporting and they won't feel inclined to help you out, but if you tell them instead that you can't download the game from your gog library in your browser, that is fully their problem and they will sort you out)

2. Decide that you don't care about that file and that you don't want to bother. At that point, you can add it to your ignore list in your manifest. In your manifest, you'll have a section call "SkipUrls" that contains an array of regexes for file urls you want to skip. To get the url, you go over the file in your gog library and you copy the link. Then, you just paste the url path value in your array.

For example, if I go to "IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator" and copy the download link to the first patch, it is: https://www.gog.com/downloads/iron_nest_heavy_turret_simulator/en1patch0

And in SkipUrls, I would put:

And then when you do operations on your manifest, that particular file will be completely ignored (it will be as if it wasn't part of the game).

The ^ and $ are just regex conventions to match strictly paths that are exactly that value (otherwise, it will also match url that contain that value, but may have additional characters).

And for the error you had on skipurl that wasn't taken into account, you probably modified your manifest locally, but didn't apply it to your storage.

You want:

And looking at my usual workflow, an additional step I usually do is force the game to update in my manifest before I push it to storage. That would be:

The file in question is a bit odd. I think the problem is that the file is for a DLC for a game I don't own. It shows up in my "owned" games but clicking on goes nowhere so I don't see the download links. It doesn't show up an owned game in GOG Galaxy but it does show the DLC in the purchase history. I have my workaround right now with the code hack I did that allows skipping specific gameIDs (which I do know).

I don't have a storage location. I just use gogcli to get the manifest (and am not using gogcli to its full potential).

I did try the skipUrl approach again (same as posted above) and it does work now. Perhaps GOG fixed something.
