feat(chat-platform): one Hazel bot for every Maple region - #2244
Hazel listed Maple twice, once per region, because its bot gateway allowed one session per bot token. Hazel now keeps one session per bot and region (MapleTechLabs/hazel#396), so the US and EU instances can share one bot.
What changes
MAPLE_HAZEL_REGION (optional): set it to eu on the EU instance and leave it unset on US.
Sent with the gateway IDENTIFY/RESUME, so the instance gets only its own region's events.
Carried in this instance's callback (…/callback?hazel_region=eu, hazelRedirectUri), on the install link and the redemption. That URI is registered on the bot and matched exactly, so Hazel routes the workspace to this region before the install exists, and an edited link can't name another region. Hazel refuses a second region's callback while the bot is installed from the first.
EU data never passes through US, and neither instance depends on the other being up.
Connector config keys can be marked optional. A missing optional key still leaves the connector configured (isConnectorConfigured and chat-bot's resolveConnectorConfig).
The Hazel connector README now describes one bot for every instance and how to move EU onto it.
Rollout (after hazel#396 is deployed)
On EU, set MAPLE_HAZEL_BOT_TOKEN and MAPLE_HAZEL_BOT_ID to the US bot's values and MAPLE_HAZEL_REGION=eu, for both api and chat-bot.
Register EU's callback with its region (https://<eu api>/oauth/chat/hazel/callback?hazel_region=eu) in the bot's install redirect URIs.
Clear EU's saved Hazel gateway session and offset (they belong to the old bot's log) before reconnecting. The chat-bot reconnects on its own.
Reconnect EU workspaces (Integrations → Hazel → Connect), then retire the old EU bot.
Testing
Hazel connector tests: 46 pass, 4 new (regional IDENTIFY/RESUME, region on the install link).
packages/chat-platform typechecks cleanly.
Already on origin/main and unchanged by this PR: 5 failures in apps/chat-botConnectorRelay.test.ts, and type errors from packages/infra/src/cloudflare/worker-telemetry.ts in chat-bot and api.

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Hazel instances can share a bot across regions while maintaining separate gateway sessions for each region. The selected region is included during installation and connection; leaving it unset uses the default region.
Optional connector settings can be left blank without preventing setup from completing. Required settings must still be provided.
Documentation
Updated Hazel setup guidance to cover regional configuration, EU callback registration, channel scopes, deployment, and migration steps for reconnecting workspaces.
Hazel's bot gateway now holds one session per bot and region, and routes
each install's events to the region that redeemed it. So Maple's EU instance
no longer needs its own Hazel bot:
- MAPLE_HAZEL_REGION (optional; `eu` on the EU instance) is sent with the
gateway IDENTIFY/RESUME and with the install redemption.
- Connector config keys can be marked `optional`: their absence leaves the
connector configured.
- README: one bot for every instance, and how to move EU onto it.

Walkthrough
Hazel connector configuration now supports an optional region. When configured, the gateway includes it in IDENTIFY and RESUME frames, and the install callback URI includes it as a query parameter. Setup documentation describes shared Hazel bots by region.

Connector declarations can mark settings as optional. Config resolution and connector checks do not require optional settings. Hazel defines MAPLE_HAZEL_REGION, and setup instructions describe regional configuration for a shared bot.
Authorization and code redemption use a callback URI with the configured region when present. Tests cover regional and unchanged callback URIs and connector configuration.
The gateway includes the configured region in IDENTIFY and RESUME frames when set. Tests cover both handshake paths. The documentation describes gateway sessions per bot and region.

Establish whether transfers should be explicitly coordinated or both links must
remain active; in the latter case, preserve separate bot installations rather

Review on #2244: redeeming with the region left a window, between Hazel
installing the bot and the redemption, in which the workspace's events went
to the default (US) session. The region now rides the install link, and Hazel
routes the install before it exists; redemption is back to code and redirect
URI. Hazel also refuses a second region's link instead of moving the install.

Deploy Hazel with link-region support before EU reconnects.
This change sends the region only on the install link. It no longer sends it on the redemption request. Hazel revision 6768b9c reads the region only from the redemption request and defaults an omitted value to null. If that revision is deployed, an EU install routes to the default US session.
Deploy a Hazel revision that reads the region from the install link and keeps it through redemption. Confirm that revision before EU workspaces reconnect.

Review on #2244: a free `region` on the install link could be edited. The
EU instance's callback now carries it (`…/callback?region=eu`), registered on
the bot and matched exactly by Hazel, on the link and the redemption alike.
README: register that URI, deploy Hazel first, clear the old session before
reconnecting.

On the outside-diff note (deploy order): agreed. Hazel #396 merges and deploys before this one, and the README's migration steps now start with that. US sends no region, so this PR changes nothing until EU sets MAPLE_HAZEL_REGION.

Update the gateway session description for regional bots.

Hazel reads a namespaced parameter (hazel#396, review F9), so no service's

Adds an optional per-deployment gateway region so several Maple instances can share one Hazel bot, threading it through the install link, the callback URI and the token exchange, with optional connector config keys so a missing region still counts as configured. The three files changed since the last review are consistent with each other and with the callers; safe to merge once the rollout steps land.

Why
Hazel listed Maple twice, once per region, because its bot gateway allowed one session per bot token. Hazel now keeps one session per bot and region (MapleTechLabs/hazel#396), so the US and EU instances can share one bot.

That URI is registered on the bot and matched exactly, so Hazel routes the workspace to this region before the install exists, and an edited link can't name another region.
