🚨 Severity: MEDIUM
πŸ’‘ Vulnerability: The internal secret check in codexRoutes.ts was using a simple string comparison `clientSecret !== internalSecret`, which is susceptible to timing attacks.
🎯 Impact: An attacker could potentially guess the internal secret by measuring the time it takes for the server to respond to requests with different secret strings.
πŸ”§ Fix: Replaced the simple string comparison with `crypto.timingSafeEqual` and ensured both inputs are cast to `Buffer` and checked for equal length before comparison. Added an inline code comment explaining the security concern.
βœ… Verification: Verified that the internal secret check now uses `crypto.timingSafeEqual` and that all tests still pass.
