[Feature] Toggle to display plain text instead of graphic logos in player UI #1494

Closed

Description

@jedubombypecky

What problem does this solve?

This is a UI personalization request rather than a bug. When watching media, the player displays a large graphic logo in the top left corner (as seen with the large logo in the attached image.png). Some users find these graphic logos too large or visually distracting, preferring a cleaner viewing experience.

Proposed solution

I would like to suggest a toggle in the player or UI settings (e.g., "Use plain text for media titles"). When enabled, the player would hide the downloaded image logo and simply display the movie or show title as standard text. This gives users the freedom to personalize their UI, choosing between a rich graphical interface or a minimalist look.

Platform

All / Not platform-specific

Alternatives considered

The only current workaround is deleting the "Logo" image assets directly on the Jellyfin server metadata, but that removes them for all clients and all users. A simple client-side toggle in Moonfin would solve this perfectly for those who want it.

Additional context

This is purely about enhancing personalization for users who prefer a minimal UI. I have attached a screenshot (image.png) for reference to show the specific logo area.

    Thanks for the request and the screenshot. The logo was too big there, and that's been fixed in 2.7.0. The player now keeps the logo to a normal height and caps it at about a third of the screen width, so a wide one like Deadpool 2 gets scaled down instead of taking over the top of the screen.

    2.7.0 also added a way to show the title as text instead of the logo on the details screen. You'll find it under Settings > Appearance > Details Page > Sections > Logo.

    I'm going to close this one since the logo size was the main problem. If it still feels too large on your device after updating, let me know here and we can take another look.
