Where does it happen?

Home

Input method

Mouse / trackpad

Steps to reproduce

  1. Hover over "Libraries" in the menu - The Icon expands to include the word "Libraries"
  2. Move the mouse to the left still in the top menu so that it hovers over the icon preceding "Libraries" and click
  3. Move the mouse pointer straight down to select a library
  4. As the mouse moves out of the top menu bar, the text label for "Libraries" disappears, moving the icon to the right, along with the dropped-down list of libraries.
  5. The mouse is now too far left to be over the Library button, and too far left to be over the list of libraries
  6. The list of Libraries collapses and the user has to go back to try again.

    Thanks for the report, @bdaroz.

Before anyone can pick this up it needs a little more from you, so it has been labelled Missing Screenshot.

A screenshot or recording is missing

UI issues are very hard to act on from a description alone. Please drag an image or a short screen recording straight into a comment below.

    • Android: power + volume down, or hold the D-pad centre on Android TV
    • iOS and tvOS: side button + volume up
    • macOS: Cmd + Shift + 4
    • Windows: Win + Shift + S
    • Linux: PrtSc, or your desktop screenshot tool

If the problem is motion, a jump, a flicker, or focus moving the wrong way, then a recording is far more useful than a still.

Each label comes off automatically once that piece is sorted.

Ok, attachment worked this time - had to shrink quality significantly.

The steps to reproduce are 100% reproducible, in real use it does happen by chance, but not all the time. Just enough to be a little frustrating.

why do you move to the icon before moving the cursor down instead of just going straight down?

I did it to exaggerate the problem for the video. The problem is that it doesn't happen all the time naturally, but sometimes the natural motion triggers it. The user sometimes barely catches the hover and clicks, pulls down and finds themselves just off to the left.

It does happen naturally, just not every time.

The point is because the menu bar expands it changed the L-R position of the submenu, when focus moves to the submenu the top menu shouldn't resize and shift the L-R submenu again.
