Present completed owned images through lazy optional OVUI, preserve explicit backend settings and retire UI leases before the borrowed runtime. Route teardown diagnostics through the named logger and expose only actually produced status measurements. Keep existing lifecycle errors visible and remove a test of a deleted private constructor wrapper. Signed-off-by: hougantc <hougantc@nvidia.com>
Replace source-syntax inspection with a fresh-process import of the actual public session API while OVUI imports are blocked. Construct the mirror config and reject attempted direct or transitive imports even if callers catch the missing dependency. Keep existing configuration and upload-lifetime checks. Description
Adds an optional desktop mirror for OVXR teleoperation using OVUI. Users can select a headset-eye or camera render product, limit the mirror update rate and display application-provided status text.
Applications inject the mirror through
OvxrFrameConsumer.OvxrSessioncalls generic startup, frame and shutdown hooks; mirror configuration, product selection, image storage, UI worker state and status stay in the mirror component. The mirror displays completed images and retains their buffers until GPU uploads finish. ClosingOvxrSessionretires the UI worker before releasing the borrowed rendering resources. Headset-eye images exclude separately submitted picture-in-picture layers; camera views can be selected directly.OVUI is an optional dependency provided by the
desktop-mirrorextra and is imported only when the mirror is enabled. The mirror defaultsOMNIUI_BACKENDtoopenglwhen unset, preserves an explicit application setting and reports unsupported copy backends clearly. It requires a usable desktop display. The session, frame-consumer and mirror modules live under
isaaccapture.ovxr_session_manager, with matching tests undertests/python/core/ovxr_session_manager.The
desktop-mirrorextra requires CUDA 13 Python bindings (cuda-bindings>=13,<14), matching the inheritedovxrextra and Isaac Lab. Python 3.12 or newer remains required for the mirror.Type of change
Testing
CUDA 13 dependency alignment: source-install and wheel requirement inputs agree, reject CUDA 12/14, and accept the tested CUDA bindings 13.3.1. All 191 OVXR session-manager tests and CI-equivalent pre-commit checks passed; the existing environment passes its dependency check. This follow-up changes metadata and documentation only. No new wheel or headset run was performed. The local full documentation build could not run because its NVIDIA Sphinx theme is unavailable in the reused environment.
The desktop mirror requires Python 3.12 or newer. Both the source-install metadata and CMake wheel requirements select OVUI only on Python 3.12+, preserving core Isaac Capture support for Python 3.11. The guide states that the mirror is unavailable on 3.11. The unqualified dependency reproduces the resolver failure; the corrected mirror dependency set resolves across the declared Python range without a build/install. Source and wheel requirement markers agree for 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13, and the full pre-commit suite passes. A subsequent Python 3.12 incremental wheel build from this exact head completed. Comparing with the prior wheel found changes only in METADATA and RECORD; all 177 installed files match the refreshed wheel. The consuming Lab environment passed ordinary locked synchronization and its dependency check. Hosted platform and release-wheel jobs remain separate gates.
The optional-OVUI import test now explicitly selects the parent test's package in its isolated child process. CTest supplies the built package through
PYTHONPATH, which Python's-Idiscards; this caused the arm64 job to fail before testing OVUI behavior. The child also checks its package origin, so an unrelated installed wheel cannot hide the problem. That import-test correction did not change runtime code.Import-test correction: all 4 desktop-mirror tests passed against the existing source-built package on Linux x86-64 / Python 3.12, and the full CI-equivalent pre-commit suite passed. Hosted checks on this head now pass for x64 and arm64 across Python 3.11–3.13 in Debug and Release, including the wheel gate, wheel publication and documentation build. No arm64 build was performed locally. An earlier wheel gate also failed because its prerequisite jobs were cancelled, which is not evidence of a wheel defect.
The following runtime/build results were recorded before these CI and dependency-metadata corrections on Linux x86-64, Python 3.12:
Physical-headset regression checks before the API rename, with the complete PR stack passed GR1T2/Newton, G1 locomanipulation, three-camera fixed-base G1, and headless Kit-backed GR1T2 with the desktop mirror disabled. Subsequent physical-headset tests with the desktop mirror and PiP enabled passed GR1T2 CPU OvPhysX, G1 locomanipulation CPU OvPhysX, and GR1T2 Newton with physics on GPU 1 and rendering/publication/CloudXR on GPU 0. The user reported first-Play and Reset success on the split-GPU run, and closing the mirror shut down the application with exit code 0. These checks used Capture 5d45441 and the verified Lab cumulative tree published at d51696e; they do not qualify other platforms or resolve historical cold-start/intermittent first-Play failures. The scene-specific screenshot thresholds and tab-close reconnect automation did not pass in the local IWER checks; full-browser disconnect/reconnect recovered successfully.
