Tasks API in Java

This is a RESTful API application for managing tasks and issues. The technology used here is Java, and the main purpose of this project is to showcase my understanding of key features under this technology, such as:

• Requests performing CRUD operations
• User registration and authentication using JWT
• Some basics business rules enforced
• Migrations and model relationship
• Authentication configuration
• Routes definitions
• SOLID and KISS principles on a MVC architecture
• Unit/Integration testing

The main tech behind it is Java with the Spring Boot framework, to showcase it's cleanliness and simplicity while maintaning a robust architecture. For storaging i'm using relational databases managed with JPA/Hibernate

Environment setup

To run this application you must have installed on your environment:

• Java (19.0.2) - For the main application
• Maven (3.9.4) - For library and packages management
• MySQL (5.7 or greater) or PostgreSQL (15 or greater) - For storaging and accessing data

Installation and Configuration

Once you set up all necessary software and tools, run

cp src/main/resources/application.properties.local src/main/resources/application.properties

and fill out the bracketed values on that new copy's spring.datasource enviroment variables. Don't forget to set up a crypt hash for the jwt.secret. Then run

mvn spring-boot:run

to install all packages and run the application. If no errors is shown and the CLI shows the server is running, you're good to go!
