CargoRise is a lightweight Windows tool for creating Rust projects and opening them in your IDE with less friction.
It is designed for RustRover, VS Code, and terminal-first workflows. After you finish a main.rs, CargoRise helps you create the next project faster and with fewer window switches.
The English README is the primary project documentation. A Chinese translation is available in README.zh-CN.md.

cargorise-new hello_worldSpecify a save directory:
cargorise-new hello_world C:\Projects\Rustcargorise-open C:\Projects\Rust\hello_worldForce a specific IDE:
cargorise-open C:\Projects\Rust\hello_world --ide vscode
cargorise-open C:\Projects\Rust\hello_world --ide rustrovercargoriseThe window lets you enter:
- Project name
- Save path
- Whether to open the IDE after creation
- IDE mode:
auto,rustrover, orvscode
Recommended quick setup:
.\install_user_path.cmdThe legacy WindowsApps installer is kept as a compatibility wrapper and now uses the same PATH-first installation:
.\install_windowsapps.cmdIf you use a PowerShell profile:
.\install_powershell_profile.cmdAfter installation, restart RustRover or VS Code, then test from a new terminal:
where.exe cargorise
cargorisecargoriseis the GUI launcher.cargorise-newis the fastest create command.cargorise-openopens a project and can launch the IDE immediately.- RustRover and VS Code usually do not need extra
.jsonfiles in each project. - If an IDE is not detected, make sure
rustroverorcodeis available onPATH. - If an editor still launches an older CargoRise copy, run
install_user_path.cmdfrom the latest CargoRise folder, then fully restart the editor so it reloads the updatedPATH.

cargorise.exe
cargo_rise_core.exe
v0.2.3: Improved the Windows taskbar and title-bar icon path. Thecargorisecommand now prefers the Rust launcher, and the GUI uses cleaned multi-size icon assets for sharper small icons.v0.2.2: Updated installation so the latest portable CargoRise folder is placed first in the userPATH, avoiding stale RustRover, VS Code, and WindowsApps command shims.v0.2.1: Added the CargoRise project icon to the GUI window and embedded it into the Windows launcher executable. The Rust build script now handles icon embedding automatically.v0.2.0: Addedcargorise-open, optional IDE launch after GUI creation, and a faster direct project skeleton generator.
