🚀 Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v18+ recommended)
• A MongoDB URI (Local or MongoDB Atlas)

1. Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/Princeag1310/Second-Brain.git
cd Second-Brain

2. Backend Setup

cd Second-Brain-Backend
npm install

Create a .env file in the Second-Brain-Backend directory:

PORT=3000
MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
JWT_PASSWORD=your_super_secret_jwt_key

Start the backend server:

npm run dev

The server will start on http://localhost:3000

3. Frontend Setup

Open a new terminal window:

cd Second-Brain-Frontend
npm install

Create a .env file in the Second-Brain-Frontend directory if you need to override the API URL:

VITE_BACKEND_URL=http://localhost:3000

Start the frontend development server:

npm run dev

The app will be available at http://localhost:5173

🌍 Deployment

Frontend: Optimized for deployment on Vercel or Netlify. Make sure to set the VITE_BACKEND_URL environment variable to your deployed backend URL.

Backend: Optimized for deployment on Render or Heroku. The application uses npm run build to compile TypeScript to JavaScript, and npm start to run the compiled output. Make sure to set MONGODB_URI and JWT_PASSWORD in your hosting provider's environment settings.
