Convert office documents, spreadsheets, presentations, ebooks, and PDFs to GitHub-Flavored Markdown — powered by the Firecrawl anydoc CLI (@firecrawl/anydoc).
This is a Hermes skill: SKILL.md is the skill definition; install it into ~/.hermes/skills/ (or your Hermes profile's skills dir) to give your agent document-to-markdown conversion capability.

- Node.js 20+ (npm/npx included)
- Network access on first use (the CLI is fetched on demand via
npx -y @firecrawl/anydoc— no persistent install)
# Markdown to stdout
npx -y @firecrawl/anydoc <file>
# Write to a file
npx -y @firecrawl/anydoc <file> -o out.md
# CSV from stdin (bash/zsh)
npx -y @firecrawl/anydoc - --format csv < data.csv
# CSV from stdin (PowerShell)
Get-Content data.csv | npx -y @firecrawl/anydoc - --format csvExit codes: 0 success, 1 conversion failure, 2 usage error.
- Format is auto-detected from file content; pass
--format <name>only when detection can't work (e.g. CSV from stdin). - Scanned / image-only PDFs need OCR, which anydoc does not do — use a hosted parse API or an OCR tool for those.
- Cross-platform: works on Linux, macOS, and Windows. PowerShell equivalents for bash-isms are documented in
SKILL.md.
