Summary
Scope
This PR intentionally contains only the heavier exploratory vortex work. The focused particle-2 convention fix and tutorial are in #43.
Status
Draft: the notebook is useful for exploration, but this PR is intentionally kept separate from the light, merge-ready particle-2 change.
