Summary

  • ClowdApp KESSEL_INSECURE default was FALSE; Python/manager.env already default to TRUE, and host-inventory uses true (HBI #3309).
  • Ephemeral Kessel is kessel-inventory-api:9000 (plaintext). With INSECURE=FALSE the manager TLS handshake fails and /cves returns 500, which IQE reports as a VMaaS wait timeout.

Test plan

  • Deploy with Kessel in the namespace and confirm manager KESSEL_INSECURE=TRUE and GET /cves is not a TLS 500.

Summary by Sourcery

Configure the ClowdApp for plaintext Kessel deployments by default and include its Kessel service dependencies.

Bug Fixes:

  • Set the ClowdApp Kessel client to use insecure connections by default so plaintext ephemeral Kessel deployments work correctly.

Enhancements:

  • Declare Kessel inventory and relations as optional ClowdApp dependencies.

Reviewer's guide (collapsed on small PRs)

Reviewer's Guide

Updates the ClowdApp default for KESSEL_INSECURE to TRUE, matching existing Python/manager and host-inventory defaults and allowing the manager to connect to plaintext ephemeral Kessel.

File-Level Changes

Change Details Files
Align the ClowdApp Kessel transport default with the plaintext ephemeral Kessel deployment.
  • Change the default KESSEL_INSECURE parameter from FALSE to TRUE.
  • Ensure the manager uses an insecure connection by default so /cves requests do not fail during TLS negotiation.
