HUD Buttons Layout Customization #321

Closed

Description

@stingflyer

The idea

I play with a PS5 Pro controller, and I’ve tried modding BOTW to change this myself, but haven’t been able to get it working.

Would it be possible to add an option to customize the order of the four button prompts on the HUD?

I’d like to be able to rearrange freely all four prompts—for example, swap X and O when using my PS5 controller, or A, B and X positions when using my GameCube controller to accurately reflect on screen the controller I'm using.

    I know BOTW recomp and TOKT recomp are not affiliated, but someone drafted it for TOTK and wrote everything down on how to do it, so I wanted to share the findings just in case someone here is willing to do it.

    Here is the link.

    Hi @stingflyer,

    I have opened PR #574 implementing this.

    It adds a HUD button layout setting in both the standalone Launcher and in-game Options (Controls) allowing you to freely rearrange the four diamond HUD button prompts (e.g. Nintendo default \B, A, Y, X, PlayStation \X, O, Square, Triangle, or custom layouts for controllers like GameCube).

    Added in test as a04bafd (from #574): Options > Controls > HUD button layout sets where A, B, X and Y sit on the HUD's diamond, and Automatic follows your controller bindings. A change counts from the next start of the game.
