A reusable Codex Skill for turning already-structured content into polished, consistent Microsoft Word documents—without rewriting the content or changing the document structure.
It is designed for internal documents such as PRDs, solution proposals, execution summaries, one-pagers, technical briefs, and decision documents.
The default visual system is Apple Inc-inspired: near-black typography, generous whitespace, parchment and pearl surfaces, a monochrome table system, and Apple Action Blue as the single accent. Typography remains Segoe UI to support the team's Word-document standard.
This is an independent community project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc. “Apple” is used only to describe a visual design influence.

Copy the Skill folder into your Codex Skills directory:
cp -R word-doc-formatting ~/.codex/skills/word-doc-formattingThe Skill becomes available to Codex on the next task.
Invoke the Skill explicitly:
Use $word-doc-formatting to format this PRD as a polished Word document.
Preserve all wording and section structure.
Format an existing DOCX:
Use $word-doc-formatting to standardize this Word document.
Keep the content unchanged and apply the default Apple-inspired theme.
Use another design direction:
Use $awesome-design-md to select a suitable visual system,
then use $word-doc-formatting to adapt it to Word.
Keep Segoe UI, the page layout, and the document structure unchanged.
For best results, tell Codex:
- Whether it is creating a new DOCX or formatting an existing one.
- Whether content and structure must remain unchanged.
- Whether to use the default Apple-inspired theme or another named direction.
- The Author, Last updated, and Reviewer values.
- Where the final DOCX should be saved.
- A4 portrait by default.
- Margins: 2.54 cm top/bottom and 1.91 cm left/right.
- Segoe UI throughout.

- No decorative line after the document title.
- Transparent 3 × 2 metadata table.
- Native three-level bullets and decimal numbering.
- Repeating table headers and rows that do not split across pages.

When Segoe UI is unavailable, Word or LibreOffice may display a substitute even though the DOCX declarations are correct.
