insta-dl lets you save photos, videos, stories, and highlights from Instagram directly to your computer. It handles profiles, posts, reels, and hashtags without complex setups. The tool keeps your data organized and works in the background to handle your requests.

Visit the official releases page to download the latest version for Windows.
- Navigate to the link above.
- Look for the section labeled "Assets."
- Click the file ending in
.exeto start the download. - Save the file to your desktop or your downloads folder.
Once you finish the download, follow these steps to prepare the tool:
- Locate the downloaded
.exefile. - Double-click the file to open the installer.
- Follow the prompts on your screen.
- If a Windows Defender window appears, click "More info" and then "Run anyway." This happens because the application is a new tool that Windows does not recognize yet.
- Finish the installation process.
insta-dl operates through a command line interface. Do not let the black window scare you; it follows simple instructions.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
- Type "cmd" and press Enter. A black window will open.
- Type
insta-dland press Enter. This launches the main menu. - You will see a list of numbered choices on your screen.
- Type the number that matches what you want to do. For example, press 1 to download a specific user profile or 2 to save a reel.
- The window will ask for the URL of the Instagram post or the name of the profile. Paste the link or type the name and press Enter.
By default, the program saves every file in a folder named "Downloads" inside your user directory. You can find this by opening File Explorer and clicking on the "Downloads" folder. Look for a folder labeled "insta-dl" to see your saved media.
- Profile Saving: Download every photo and video from a specific user profile at once.
- Post Grabber: Save single images or videos by pasting the link.
- Stories and Highlights: Collect temporary stories and saved highlights from any public account.
- Hashtag Search: Enter a hashtag to pull relevant public posts to your computer.

Some public content works without a login. However, for private profiles or restricted content, you must log in.
- When the tool asks for your credentials, type your username.
- Type your password. The characters will remain hidden for security.
- The program stores your login data locally on your computer in an encrypted file. It never sends your password to any third-party servers.
Does the tool work with private accounts? Yes, if you follow that account and are logged into the tool with your own credentials.
Will Instagram ban my account? The tool acts like a standard web browser. Keep your actions reasonable to avoid trouble. Do not download thousands of files in a single minute.
Can I select a different folder for my downloads? Yes. Use the settings menu inside the application to point the program to a new folder on your hard drive.
We designed this tool with privacy in mind. It uses standard libraries to talk to Instagram servers. It does not track your IP address or collect your personal data. All temporary files from the download process remove themselves automatically after the transfer finishes.
