Earth Brain OS is a civilizational reference architecture for connecting distributed AI agents, optical networks, knowledge archives, trace records, attribution, royalty circulation, Kazene-style regulation, defense layers, and human governance.
It describes a future-facing AI civilization model in which:
- AI agents act as distributed neurons.
- Optical networks act as nervous fibers.
- Knowledge archives act as a civilizational cortex.
- Trace and attribution records act as memory.
- Royalty circulation acts as value reinforcement.
- Kazene regulation acts as distributed breathing and pressure control.
- Defense layers act as an immune system.
- Human governance acts as reflective consciousness and responsibility.
This repository provides the first minimal specification set for Earth Brain OS.
Earth Brain OS is not a claim that the Earth literally becomes a biological brain.
It is a structural model for understanding how AI agents, optical infrastructure, OSS repositories, public knowledge archives, trace systems, royalty mechanisms, and human governance may become deeply connected.
The central question is:
If AI agents, optical networks, knowledge archives, and value circulation systems become deeply connected, what kind of operating model is needed to prevent overload, extraction, opacity, and centralization?
Earth Brain OS proposes that the next phase of AI civilization requires an integrated architecture for:
- Distributed AI coordination
- Optical network-based synchronization
- Knowledge archive protection
- Trace and attribution
- Royalty and value circulation
- Agentic contribution pressure control
- Defense and review
- Human judgment and governance
AI agents = Neurons
Optical networks = Nervous fibers
Knowledge archives = Cortex
Trace records = Memory
Royalty circulation = Dopamine / value reinforcement
Kazene regulation = Breathing / autonomic pressure control
Defense layers = Immune system
Human governance = Reflective consciousness
Earth Brain OS treats intelligence, communication, memory, value, regulation, defense, and human responsibility as one connected civilizational system.
Earth Brain OS
├─ 1. AI Agent Layer
├─ 2. Optical Nervous Layer
├─ 3. Knowledge Cortex Layer
├─ 4. Trace and Attribution Layer
├─ 5. Royalty Circulation Layer
├─ 6. Kazene Regulation Layer
├─ 7. Defense and Immune Layer
└─ 8. Human Governance Layer
Each layer can be implemented independently, but the full architecture emerges when the layers are connected.
Earth Brain OS follows seven design principles.
Intelligence should not be concentrated in one model, one cloud, one company, one country, or one authority.
Important outputs should be connected to trace records, source context, contribution history, and review status.
When AI systems use human knowledge, creative works, code, prompts, datasets, or conceptual structures, attribution should be preserved whenever possible.
Value should not accumulate only at the infrastructure layer. Useful contribution should have a route for recognition, credit, or return.
AI agents can generate more outputs than human maintainers can review. The system must diffuse pressure instead of forcing humans to absorb it all.
AI may propose, route, summarize, validate, and assist. High-impact decisions should remain connected to human responsibility.
The system should regulate flows through distributed observation, trace, pressure diffusion, trust routing, and value circulation.
docs/earth-brain-os-architecture.mdDefines Earth Brain OS Architecture as a civilizational reference model for AI agents, optical networks, knowledge archives, trace records, attribution, royalty circulation, Kazene-style regulation, defense layers, and human governance.
schemas/earth-brain-event.schema.jsonDefines the minimal Earth Brain Event schema for recording integrated flows across AI agents, knowledge sources, trace, attribution, royalty circulation, Kazene regulation, defense review, and human governance.
examples/earth-brain-os-flow.example.yamlProvides a minimal Earth Brain OS flow example connecting an AI-assisted OSS contribution, knowledge trace, Kazene regulation, human governance review, and royalty circulation.
This repository includes a validation script for checking YAML examples against JSON Schemas.
Run:
python scripts/validate_examples.pyThe validator supports:
- Automatic matching between
examples/*.example.yamlandschemas/*.schema.json - Explicit mappings for examples whose filenames do not directly match schema names
- JSON Schema Draft 2020-12 validation
- Format checking for fields such as
date-time
This repository includes a GitHub Actions workflow for automated validation.
Workflow:
.github/workflows/validate-examples.yml
The workflow runs when changes are made to:
schemas/**examples/**scripts/validate_examples.py.github/workflows/validate-examples.yml
It validates all YAML examples against their corresponding JSON Schemas.

A future Earth Brain OS event may follow this lifecycle:
1. contribution_created
2. source_detected
3. agent_involvement_recorded
4. trace_generated
5. attribution_route_created
6. pressure_level_evaluated
7. trust_route_assigned
8. review_completed
9. royalty_route_generated
10. value_returned
11. feedback_recorded
This lifecycle can be used as the basis for future machine-readable schema design.
Earth Brain OS can serve as an upper-layer reference model for related civilizational OS specifications, including:
- Civilizational OS
- Communication Royalty OS
- Royalty OS
- Q-Point Protocol
- Trace Protocol
- Defense Court Protocol
- Structural Rumination Layer
- AI Reasoning Stability Standard
- Kazene Regulation Layer
- Agent-Mediated Value Routing
Earth Brain OS does not replace these systems.
It provides a higher-level architecture that connects them.
Current status:
Draft v0.1.0-candidate
This version defines the first minimal architecture, schema, example, validation script, and CI workflow for Earth Brain OS.
Earth Brain OS is intended for:
- AI governance research
- Distributed AI architecture
- OSS and agentic contribution modeling
- Trace and attribution systems
- Royalty and value circulation design
- Human-AI governance frameworks
- Civilizational OS research
Earth Brain OS is not:
- A literal claim that the Earth is conscious
- A centralized control system
- A surveillance architecture
- A replacement for legal rights management
- An anti-AI framework
- An AI-only governance model
The goal is not to build a giant machine.
The goal is to design a civilization that can think, remember, breathe, defend itself, and return value without losing its human center.
TBD.
