- I've only tested this with a "Ledger Nano S Plus"
- I am not sure about the other Ledger devices as I don't own anything other than the Nano S Plus.
Just a simple way to export your Monero secret view key from your Ledger Hardware Wallet.
Which you can then use to create a view-only wallet that doesn't require you to plug your device.
Do not use this if you care about privacy. The official wallet stores the secret view key in memory only and makes sure it is erased after wallet is closed.
Creating a view-only wallet may be useful for certain cases but will threaten your privacy.
Use only if you don't mind your secret view key being stolen (worst case scenario).
- Merchant wallet, etc.
- When you need automation and need to monitor incoming transactions however you want absolutely no one to be able to spend anything. (secret spend key never leaves the device)
- Similar cases...
