About

This program simulates insurance claim scenarios using Monte Carlo methods to evaluate risk. It generates random claim frequencies and severities, calculates the average total loss, and computes the Value at Risk (VaR) at a 95% confidence level, providing key insights for risk assessment.

Insurance Risk Monte Carlo Simulation Dashboard

Overview

This project is a C# console application that uses Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate insurance risk. It simulates insurance claim scenarios by generating random claim frequencies and severities, then computes key risk metrics such as the average total loss and Value at Risk (VaR) at a 95% confidence level.

Purpose

The project demonstrates advanced proficiency in:

  • C# Programming: Developing a simulation from scratch.
  • Monte Carlo Methods: Using statistical methods to simulate insurance claim scenarios.
  • Risk Analytics: Calculating metrics like average loss and VaR.
  • Scalability: Running thousands of simulations efficiently.

How to Run

  1. Clone the repository:
    git clone https://github.com/yourusername/insurance-montecarlo-simulation.git
    cd insurance-montecarlo-simulation
  2. Open the solution in Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code.
  3. Build and run the project. The console will display the simulation results including the average total loss and the VaR (95%).

Future Improvements

  • Enhance the simulation by incorporating additional risk factors and claim distributions.
  • Develop a WPF-based dashboard for interactive visualization of simulation outcomes.
  • Integrate real insurance data for more accurate risk assessment.
