Bandcamp Yummer

A simple Python wrapper for bandcamp-dl that provides an interactive command-line interface for downloading Bandcamp albums and playlists with organized folder structure.

Features

  • Interactive CLI for easy input of Bandcamp URLs
  • Customizable download directory (with sensible default)
  • Organized folder structure: Artist/Album/Track - Title
  • Clear progress and error reporting
  • Uses the bandcamp-dl package

Requirements

  • Python 3.6 or higher
  • bandcamp-dl package

Installation

  1. First, install the required package:
pip install bandcamp-dl
  1. Download the bandcamp_yummer.py script to your preferred location.

Usage

Run the script directly:

python bandcamp_yummer.py

The script will prompt you for:

  1. URL - Paste the full link to an album, track, or playlist
  2. Download directory - Specify where to save files (defaults to ./downloads in the current directory)

Example Session

Bandcamp Downloader
--------------------
Enter playlist/album link
>> https://thefaintingroom.bandcamp.com/album/reflection-probe-tfr01
Enter directory to save (default: /current/path/downloads)
>> /home/user/music

How It Works

The script:

  1. Creates the specified download directory if it doesn't exist
  2. Sets up the required bandcamp-dl configuration directory (~/.bandcamp-dl)
  3. Executes bandcamp-dl with the following parameters:
    • Organized folder structure: %{artist}/%{album}/%{track} - %{title}
    • Custom base directory for downloads
    • Your provided Bandcamp URL
