📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/Real-time-chat--app-2026.git
   cd Real-time-chat--app-2026

2. Install Backend Dependencies:

   cd backend
   npm install

3. Install Frontend Dependencies:

   cd ../frontend
   npm install

4. Environment Variables: Create a .env file in the backend directory with the following:

   PORT=5001
   MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
   JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret
   NODE_ENV=development

   Create a .env file in the frontend directory with the following:

   VITE_API_URL=http://localhost:5001

5. Run the Application:

   • Backend: cd backend && npm start
   • Frontend: cd frontend && npm run dev

🚀 Deployment

Backend (Render)

1. Connect your repo to Render.
2. Set Root Directory to backend.
3. Set Build Command to npm install.
4. Set Start Command to npm start.
5. Add Environment Variables from your .env file.

Frontend (Vercel)

1. Connect your repo to Vercel.
2. Set Root Directory to frontend.
3. Set Framework Preset to Vite.
4. Add VITE_API_URL environment variable pointing to your deployed backend URL.
