ZeroSphere is a combination of web-based platform and hardware device designed to quantify, visualise and reduce the carbon footprint of Indian coal mines. It offers three major capabilities:
This tool estimates direct emissions from fuel combustion, fugitive gases, and other carbon-emission sources in coal mines, calculates natural sinks such as afforestation and grassland restoration, and outputs net CO₂-equivalent (CO₂e) emissions with visualisations and downloadable reports.
This tool evaluates three realistic carbon-reduction pathways- afforestation, methane capture systems, and renewable energy adoption (solar), based on a mine’s available land, funds, and current emissions.
This constitutes MQ-4,9,135 sensors controlled by ESP32 to measure CH4, CO, CO2 and air quality. It is integrated with Blynk and LCD display to enable both off-site and on-site data logging and real-time supervision and control. The code file is available in the repo ("wifi_name" and "wifi_password" should be substituted by the user's specificatins.)
