The mouse worker (workers.rs, fn mouse) loads the mouse from ratbagd only when reload is set: at startup, after a command, or when HID++ reads fail. If that rb.load() failed ("ratbagd sees no mouse", ratbagd not running, a D-Bus error), nothing ever set reload again:
commands are dropped while the mouse is missing
HID++ is None, so its failure path never runs
The Mouse page stayed on No mouse found until Rig Hub was restarted. That happened when the mouse was plugged in after launch, when it came back after an unplug (the HID++ failure triggers one reload, which fails while unplugged, and then it gives up), or when the user followed the page's own "sudo systemctl enable --now ratbagd" hint. The cooler, headset and mic workers all keep polling; only the mouse didn't.
What changed
When rb.load() fails, the worker schedules another try in 5 seconds (retry_at). The loop already wakes every 400 ms, so no new thread or timer. A successful load clears it. That's the whole diff.
While a mouse is loaded without HID++ (non-Logitech, or HID++ open failed), it's reloaded from ratbagd every 30 s. That retries HID++ and notices an unplug, which otherwise nothing detected for those mice.
A failed load drops the HID++ handle, so a different mouse picked later isn't read through the old one.
Validation
cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings: clean
cargo test: 7 passed
Not exercised at runtime. It needs ratbagd stopped (root) or the mouse unplugged while a second Rig Hub runs, and the single-instance lock refuses a second one next to yours. To check: quit Rig Hub, sudo systemctl stop ratbagd, start Rig Hub, open Mouse, sudo systemctl start ratbagd. The page should fill in within about 5 s.
No unit test: the loop is D-Bus-bound and has no seam. I didn't add one just for this.
The mouse worker only reloaded from ratbagd at startup, after a command, or
when HID++ reads failed. If that load failed (ratbagd not running yet, mouse
unplugged, receiver asleep), nothing set reload again, so the Mouse page
stayed on "No mouse found" until a restart, even after following its own
"start ratbagd" hint. Retry every 5 seconds while it's missing, like the
other workers poll.

Walkthrough
The Linux mouse worker clears cached DPI state when it reports a missing mouse. It refreshes HID discovery before opening HID++ and schedules retries when device loading fails or HID++ is unavailable.
Changes: Mouse worker recovery
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Missing-device recovery and retry scheduling src/workers.rs
The worker clears dpi_stage when the mouse is missing. It tracks retry deadlines and refreshes the HID device list before opening HID++. It schedules another load after five seconds when rb.load() fails and retries periodically when HID++ is unavailable.
The worker now detects removal of a mouse without HID++ and continues looking for it. No actionable merge-blocking risk remains after normal checks.

Before / after behavior
observed — Modified behavior in src/workers.rs: The missing-device update now also clears dpi_stage, so a subsequent mouse does not retain the previous device’s reported stage.
observed — Modified behavior in src/workers.rs: The HID API is retained mutably, and the worker adds retry-timer state for periodically reloading a missing mouse.
observed — Modified behavior in src/workers.rs: Reloads now run when requested or when the five-second retry deadline expires. Before opening HID++ on the first successful ratbag load, the worker refreshes the HID device list. A failed load now clears the previous DPI tracking value, reports the mouse as missing, and schedules another attempt in five seconds.

Review follow-ups: the HidApi device list is a snapshot from startup, so a
Logitech mouse plugged in later loaded from ratbagd but never got live DPI.
And when the mouse goes missing, the last mouse's dpi_stage stayed and could
show for the next one.

If a loaded mouse does not support HID++, this branch skips the only automatic removal check. Unplugging it leaves s.mouse as Dev::Ok, so the missing-device retry never starts and the page can retain stale mouse data. Poll ratbagd or subscribe to device changes while a mouse is loaded.

Update the loaded-mouse handling around the `hidpp` check so devices without
HID++ still detect unplugging and trigger the existing removal/retry behavior.
Poll ratbagd or subscribe to device changes while the mouse is loaded, without
relying on HID++ support for removal detection.

`hidpp` handle so the worker reopens the currently selected mouse during
recovery instead of continuing to read the previous device.
- Line 312: Update the worker flow around HidppDpi::open to schedule a separate
retry whenever opening the HID++ handle fails, while the handle remains absent.
Keep this retry independent of the reload schedule so failed HID++ discovery can
recover without another reload.

…led load
Review follow-ups: without a HID++ handle (non-Logitech mouse, or opening it
failed while the mouse slept) nothing noticed an unplug or retried the open,
so the page kept a mouse that was gone. A failed load also kept the old HID++
handle, so a different mouse picked by ratbagd later would read the old one.

Re the outside-diff finding (Detect removal without HID++, workers.rs:348): fixed in 23dfc2f by the same change as the HID++-retry thread. A mouse loaded without HID++ is reloaded from ratbagd every 30 s, so an unplug turns into Dev::Missing and the 5 s retry takes over. I didn't subscribe to ratbagd's device signals: polling matches the other workers and is a smaller change.
