Summary

A frying-pan cooking option can now turn the piece into another food when it's done: output: <food string> in types.yml (CookingOutput).

  • The piece takes the output's name and keeps its stars, freshness, lineage and ingredients, and its origin when the string names none. It cooks on by the same clock, so it can burn as the new food.
  • Taken off before it changes, it comes back as it went in, and the butter stays.
  • A type whose only cooking option has an output isn't Raw outside the pan (CookData.cooksInPlace), so chopped veg keeps its values.

Configured with it (server config, Dev only so far):

  • Popcorn: chopped corn pops into "Popcorn" at 15 s and burns at 30 s.
  • Grilled mushrooms: brown and red mushrooms become food on pickup and grill into "Grilled Mushroom" at 12 s (red ones "Grilled Red Mushroom").
  • Fried eggs: they fry on Dev now. The egg items from Main, the pan whitelist, flat icons in hand and the 3D egg only in the pan.

Documentation impact

Contract

  • Affected behaviour: frying-pan pieces whose cooking option has an output, and Raw tags on types whose only cooking option has an output. Other pan foods are unchanged.
  • Tests run: mvn -o -B clean verify; all tests pass and line coverage is still 100%. New PanFoodsCoverageTest.
  • Tested on Dev: deployed on Dev since 2026-10-31.
    • Fried eggs, grilled mushrooms and popcorn cook in game, with their looks fixed after testing (server config).
    • The full step list isn't confirmed.
  • Player wiki (ProvinceSystem /wiki/cooking or related pages): no change.

…the frying pan

A cooking option can now name an output food (types.yml cooking-options
.<method>.output). In the frying pan the piece cooks raw, then turns into
that food once it's done or burnt, keeping its stars, ageing tracks,
lineage and ingredients (and its origin when the output names none), and
goes on cooking by the same clock, so popcorn left too long burns as
popcorn. It takes the output's name. A type whose only options have
outputs carries no Raw tag until it's in the pan, and a piece taken off
before it turned comes back as it went in.

Chopped corn pops into Popcorn, and vanilla brown and red mushrooms
(new mushroom type and conversions) grill into Grilled Mushroom, with
burnt and rotten looks for both.
