Magic Types

Fire

Centered around building up heat through repeated spells to release larger/more destructive spells.

Water

Steam (Water+Fire) Ice (Water+Earth)

Earth

Wood (Earth+Water) Metal (Earth+Fire)

Mana System

Traditional Mana System

A single mana bar with a base mana regen and spells costing mana

Balancing Mana System

Encourages players to use a variety of magic types. Use of certain magic adds mana and others subtract mana. Could have separate mana bars for each magic type.

Important things to define

  • How the player gains mana and loses it
  • Consequences for high or low mana
  • Progression system, how does the player unlock new spells/magic types

Possible ideas

  • Consequences for overuse of a specific magic type
  • Repeated use of a magic type results in strengthened spells/effects
  • Use of each magic type affects the players ability to use the other types of magic
