Motivation

Project assembly (assembleDebug) failed due to two issues:

  1. VideoPage.kt failed compilation with Unresolved reference 'player' because LaunchedEffect(player, playbackSpeed) referenced player before its declaration.
  2. The Gradle build daemon crashed with Out of Memory errors during R8/dexing under limited memory environments.
  3. Untracked build and IDE artifacts (.gradle, app/build, .idea) were not ignored.

Changes

  • VideoPage.kt: Moved LaunchedEffect(player, playbackSpeed) after val player = pageState?.player.
  • gradle.properties: Tuned JVM arguments (-Xmx1024m, -XX:+UseG1GC, -XX:CICompilerCount=2), limited Gradle max workers to 2, and explicitly set org.gradle.java.home to avoid daemon crashes and Java 25 incompatibilities.
  • .gitignore: Added .gitignore to exclude Gradle caches, build directories, logs, and IDE files.

Verification

  • ./gradlew.bat assembleDebug succeeds.
  • ./gradlew.bat testDebugUnitTest --tests "com.snapreel.app.VideoPageTest" passes.

- Move LaunchedEffect for playbackSpeed after player declaration to resolve unresolved reference error
- Optimize Gradle memory and JVM properties to prevent daemon OOM crashes
