A VSCodium distribution with the Pi coding agent and Gentle AI inside the editor core — not as a plugin bolted on afterwards.
@pi in the chat, providers connected from settings, memory and skills already there. No setup ceremony, no Copilot. Free and complete.
Not mine, but central to everything. A review discipline and workflow harness that sits on top of coding agents — memory, skills, ODD (Organic Driven Development), Spec-Driven Development, and structured review. The reason PiCode feels more like a tool than a collection of parts.
| Layer | What |
|---|---|
| Editor | VSCodium — the MIT-licensed source, rebuilt as PiCode |
| Agent | Pi (earendil-works/pi) — coding agent with tools, providers, models, skills |
| Workflow | ODD — Organic Driven Development, with SDD/OpenSpec where the spec calls for it |
| Review | Gentle AI — receipt-driven development, blind dual review, verification discipline |
| Memory | Engram — persistent cross-session memory, cross-project knowledge |
| Platform | Windows (primary), Linux (full pipeline, nightly CI) |
| Build | Bash · gulp · C# / WinUI 3 · .NET · GitHub Actions |
- PiCode — the product, with a full wiki and docs
- PiCode Wiki — everything explained, page by page
- Gentle AI — the review harness and workflow
- Pi — the coding agent I build on
- Software that works out of the box, not a collection of parts you assemble after install
- Open source first — MIT licensed, built on MIT-licensed upstreams (VSCodium, Pi, Gentle AI)
- The messy middle: repos where things are compiled, patched, and wired together
- Honest records of every decision, failure, and correction
- There are things I haven't figured out yet. If you spot them, an issue or a PR is welcome
