feat(api): attest exported models with an offline-verifiable digest - #286
A review or release gate that claims "this model, checked by these rules, had these findings" had to stitch the claim together from separate reads, and a write landing between them produced a record whose findings described manifests it did not contain, with nothing in the record able to show it.
A saved validation report was only prose, so editing the manifests or the findings afterwards left no trace; a digest over every normative field lets anyone holding the bundle check that offline.
Holding writes off for an export would let a reader stall every writer, so the export reads one snapshot instead, binds the bundle to it and to the changeset boundary, and writes anything that moved or could not be resolved into the bundle as a marker the digest covers.
Default chosen for review: an export that cannot cover its whole scope (truncated snapshot, truncated board walk, incomplete rewind, skipped entities, incomplete validation, unresolved entities, a concurrent write) is refused with EXPORT_INCOMPLETE, and only an explicit allow_incomplete returns it, marked incomplete with every reason.
Default chosen for review: every exported entity is confirmed against the store after the snapshot is read, and one that changed or was deleted is marked while the bundle keeps the snapshot's copy, so a concurrent write yields a pre-write bundle or an explicit marker, never a silent mix.
Default chosen for review: a concurrent write, a moved or deleted branch, or changed namespace visibility marks the bundle with REASON_CONCURRENT_WRITE instead of failing with a retry, so an export never loses to a busy writer.
Default chosen for review: a replica exports and marks the bundle REASON_BOUNDARY_UNVERIFIED, because its snapshot cache may predate the boundary it names, rather than refusing outright.
Default chosen for review: a historical export whose visible type libraries changed after the requested changeset is marked REASON_TYPE_LIBRARIES_CHANGED, because old entities rendered through newer types may describe a state that never existed.
Default chosen for review: verification refuses a bundle that claims to be complete while its own coverage, skipped list or unresolved list says otherwise, so relabelling an incomplete bundle and resealing it does not pass.
Integrity is not authenticity: a verifying digest says the bundle is unchanged, not who produced it. Signing is left as future work, and unknown fields are refused so a later signature cannot be added silently.
MCP exposure is deferred so the bundle format can settle through the RPC and CLI first.
Medium Risk
Introduces a new read RPC and cryptographic attestation path with tenant-scoped auth and signing-key handling; behavior is heavily tested but mistakes could affect release-gate trust or leak bundle contents across namespaces.
Overview
Adds attested export: a single ExportAttestedModel RPC and AttestedModelBundle proto that bind manifests, validation findings/coverage, snapshot/closure identity, and completeness markers to one bundle_digest, with optional Ed25519 signing (v1 unsigned / v2 signed).
The CLI gains export-attested and offline verify (including --trusted-key), with exit codes extended so incomplete exports/ signing failures map to 4, bad bundles to 5, and intact incomplete bundles to 11. Core implements sealing, digest rules, completeness checks, and signature verification; the server builds bundles from one snapshot (concurrent-write / unresolved / replica REASON_BOUNDARY_UNVERIFIED handling), refuses incomplete exports unless allow_incomplete, and loads signing keys from file/env (SIGNING_KEY_UNAVAILABLE if misconfigured).
Authorization treats ExportAttestedModel like other dual-read RPCs; cross-tenant tests cover hidden models, empty baseline changeset ids for bound callers, and foreign branches. Board closure now records missing referenced keys (including untyped slice probes). Docs cover format, how-tos, failure reasons, and attested-export behavior.

Walkthrough
This change adds an attested-model export RPC and bundle format. The server captures model state with manifests and validation data, then seals the bundle. The client and CLI export bundles and verify saved bundles offline. Documentation and tests cover capture boundaries, completeness, digests, signing, and verification.

Bundle contract and verification proto/trogonatlas/api/eventmodel/v1alpha1/*, rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-core/src/{attested_bundle.rs,content_hash.rs,attested_signing.rs}, rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-core/src/lib.rs, docs/reference/attested-bundle-format.md
The protobuf schema defines bundle scope, state, validation, and completeness fields. Core code seals and verifies bundles using canonical JSON digests and closure identities. Ed25519 signing and trusted-key verification are supported.
Core code parses signing and trusted keys. The server configures key sources from files or environment variables, reads a configured source for exports, and reports loading failures.
Server capture and signing rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-server/src/{service.rs,auth.rs,conv.rs,graph.rs,lib.rs}, rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-server/tests/{attested_export.rs,cross_tenant_reads.rs}
The server adds ExportAttestedModel as a reader RPC. It captures current, branch, or historical state, tracks completeness and unresolved entities, and refuses incomplete exports unless allowed. It can sign bundles with a configured key.
The client adds export and file-verification APIs. The CLI adds export-attested and verify, reports bundle digest and completeness, and returns the documented exit codes. Tests cover complete, altered, incomplete, and signed bundles. Documentation describes usage, bundle semantics, signing, errors, and verification.

Explanation
The title "feat(api): attest exported models with an offline-verifiable digest" names the main change. The changeset adds attested model export (ExportAttestedModel RPC, attested bundle format, digest sealing), plus offline verification in the CLI and client. The title does not mention signing, which the changeset also adds, but it is specific enough for a teammate to understand the primary change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description states the purpose of the change: exports bind findings, manifests, snapshot, and changeset boundary under a digest, with refusal behavior for incomplete exports and an explicit allow_incomplete option. It also covers concurrent-write markers, replica and historical-export handling, verification rules, and the integrity-versus-authenticity limit. These match the changeset, so the description is related to the changes.

Use bounded batch_get chunks for export etag checks.
The serial store.get calls can issue one awaited KV read per entity. NatsStore::batch_get preserves key order and overlaps reads, so use it in chunks. Do not send the full closure in one call: batch_get rejects more than 1000 keys, while the export closure allows up to 5000.
The None result must remain mapped to UnresolvedCause::Deleted. Branch reads retain the existing overlay behavior.

Addressed the standalone CodeRabbit batching request in 7273853. Current-export etag confirmation now uses ordered batch_get chunks bounded by ADVERTISED_MAX_BATCH_GET_KEYS, preserving branch overlay and deleted-entity handling. The attested-export integration suite passes.
Declined the non-required docstring coverage suggestion. This repository keeps comments and docstrings to essential why-context; adding coverage-driven prose to otherwise clear functions would conflict with that convention. CodeRabbit reported no actionable comments in its current-head review.

Export binds a newer snapshot than its changeset
Medium Severity
A current export records baseline_changeset_id before it reads the snapshot, then only marks REASON_CONCURRENT_WRITE when a later changeset touches the board's read set. A write that lands in between, or that only affects other snapshot entities validate_model still inspects, can enter snapshot_id and the findings while the bundle stays complete and still names the earlier changeset.
