Summary

Reframes Today's Highlight as a substantive daily research note, not site advertising.

What changed

Each of the 36 entries previously read like a feature pitch ("Export CSV!", "Try the Scenario Lab!"). Now each reads like a daily analytical brief:

  • Headline — the finding itself (e.g. "The top 1% income share is at colonial-era levels")
  • Chart — visualises the underlying data
  • Explanation — 2-3 sentences with concrete numbers and context
  • Key takeaway — one bold sentence in a callout block, summarising what to remember
  • Source link — small "Source data in [Tab] →" footer link (no more prominent CTA button)

Coverage across 36 entries

Inequality (4), Jobs (8), Growth (4), Democracy (5), Federalism (2), Statistics (4), Society (2), Public services (1), Comparative (3), Indices (1), Correlation (1), Methodology (3).

Visual changes

  • Card gradient swapped from busy indigo/blue/purple to neutral slate (matches the analytical tone)
  • "Today's analysis" pill replaces "Today's Highlight"
  • Indigo accent now lives specifically on the Key Takeaway callout, not the whole card

Version 2.8.1.

Test plan

  • Reload — card no longer reads as marketing
  • "Key takeaway" callout visible below the explanation
  • Footer shows "Source data in [Tab] →" as a subtle link, not a button
  • Chart still renders correctly inside the card
  • Dark mode contrast OK on the new slate gradient

Per feedback: the highlights were reading as site advertising
("Export CSV!", "Try the Scenario Lab!"), not as analytical content.
Rewritten as a daily research note instead.

Each of the 36 entries now has:
- Analytical headline (the finding, not a CTA)
- 2-3 sentence explanation with concrete numbers and context
- Mini chart visualising the underlying data
- "Key takeaway" callout block -- one bold sentence summarising
  what to remember
- Small "Source data in [Tab] -->" link, demoted from the
  prominent CTA button

The 36 entries collectively cover:
Inequality (4) - top 1%, bottom 50%, wealth concentration, trajectory
Jobs (8) - decoupling, graduate unemployment, female LFPR, gig
workers, informal share, youth unemployment, formal decline,
  demonetisation aftermath
Growth (4) - 2020 contraction, rural income stagnation, GDP
  volatility, headline growth
Democracy (5) - V-Dem, RSF, DQI, India vs Hungary, 1976-emergency
  comparison
Federalism (2) - FCI, cess share
Statistics (4) - SSI, census delay, exam disruptions, unemployment
  definition
Society (2) - communal incidents, opposition incarceration
Public services (1) - ODF logistic curve
Comparative (3) - regime scorecard, India vs Hungary, SA recovery
Indices (1) - three indices co-movement
Correlation (1) - SSI vs press freedom co-movement
Methodology (3) - SSI, DQI, FCI construction

Card visuals updated: neutral slate gradient (instead of busy
indigo/blue/purple), "Today's analysis" pill, indigo accent
specifically on the takeaway block.
