When this entry is tagged as v2.0.1, the checked-in VERSION file will still report 2.0.0, leaving two conflicting release-version markers in the same tree. The prior 2.0.0 release updated CHANGELOG.md and VERSION together, so this release preparation should likewise bump VERSION to 2.0.1 before publication.
