Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Resolve the frame-processing races and blocking provider calls before merging: concurrent captures can duplicate paid searches, and external searches can stall other backend activity. Windows startup also retains dependency-recovery and temporary-file safety issues. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to The concurrency changes introduce gaps in search exclusivity and frame-data ownership. Track successful frontend installation, not directory existence.
node_modules can exist before npm install completes successfully. Installation scripts can still fail after dependencies are installed. (docs.npmjs.com)
If the first frontend installation fails or is interrupted, the backend success marker already exists. The next normal startup skips installation and launches the incomplete frontend.
Check a frontend success marker instead. Remove that marker before installation, and write it only after npm install succeeds.

Line 21 overwrites %ROOT%.jarvis-write-test, and Line 31 deletes it. If a file with that name already exists, running the script destroys it. A stale file can also make Line 22 pass after the current write fails. Use a per-run path confirmed absent, and remove it only after this run creates it.

Add deadlines to both backend requests.
The missing deadline is not limited to the localhost fallback. Both requests lack an application deadline for every backend URL. A stalled backend can leave apiFetch pending. It can also leave the frame-capture pipeline in identifying because the catch block runs only after the request rejects.

Add a connection-establishment timeout for EventSource.
eventSource.onerror moves the hook to its error state when the browser reports an error. However, new EventSource(url) has no timeout for a stalled initial connection, so isStreaming can remain true indefinitely. Add a timeout for the initial connection and clear it when the stream opens, completes, errors, or is aborted. Do not apply the timeout to a healthy long-lived stream.

Heavy CPU work ran directly on the event loop, so one slow frame or a background identification froze every other request — the stream dropped from ~1.4 fps to one frame every 5-20s. - Run YOLO detection, cropping, embedding and upscaling in worker threads - Build the MediaPipe FaceDetector once and reuse it instead of loading the model on every call (~13s on the first detection) - Drop polling frames that arrive while a detection is in flight and reuse the last result; targeting frames always run Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_017Ywt3eEdS7G6opqNzzq8cu

Keep detection serialized after cancellation.
If process_frame is cancelled during detection, the coroutine releases _detect_lock, but the running worker continues. A subsequent frame can then call the same persistent YOLO tracker concurrently. Cancelling an executor future cannot stop an already-running call. (docs.python.org)
Protect the synchronous detection call with a worker-side lock, or retain ownership of _detect_lock until the worker finishes, including cancellation cleanup.

Reserve the search slot before awaiting cropping.
Two target frames can both pass _search_in_progress at Line 106 while the first frame awaits cropping. Each frame then creates an identification task and sets _search_in_progress. This bypasses the one-search-at-a-time guard and can issue duplicate paid searches.
Reserve the slot before this await. Release the slot when cropping fails, returns no crops, or is cancelled. Transfer cleanup ownership to _identify_face only after spawning the task.

Move the people search off the event loop and bound its duration.
The new people-search call uses the synchronous Exa client directly inside enrich_person. While that call waits for Exa, other tasks on the event loop cannot run. The SDK provides a separate asynchronous client. (github.com)
Use an asynchronous client or offload both search calls to a worker thread. Configure a finite transport timeout and preserve the existing fallback and error handling. An async deadline alone cannot interrupt a synchronous call on the event loop.
As per coding guidelines: “Add timeouts and error handling for every external dependency.”

Set a finite timeout on the Gemini client.
genai.Client(api_key=key) does not set the timeout required by the project guideline. The SDK may provide a finite default, so this does not establish indefinite waiting. Run Gemini failover off the event loop.
GeminiRotator.generate_content performs synchronous network calls and can try multiple key/model pairs. synthesize calls it directly, so a configured Gemini path can block other event-loop work. Adds a self-contained game module behind a single on/off switch (JARVIS_GAME_MODE, or POST /api/game/mode). With it off every game route 404s and the capture pipeline is untouched; switching it off wipes the game and its player data. Rules: assassin (closed target ring, inherit on tag), hunters vs runners, king of the hill and photo bingo. Hints players write about themselves release as a hunt drags on, plus safe zones, immunity cooldown, endgame double points, shield/disguise/spy power-ups, a shared feed with voting and a live scoreboard. Players join themselves and a tag only counts once the tagged player confirms it. The radar answers warm/cold and never a position; location sharing is opt-in and pausable. Play windows are read in the game's own timezone so 10:00 means players' 10:00, not UTC. Photos taken for the feed run through face detection and every face is blurred before the image is stored.
