What’s New in 1.3
Custom Timer Input
- Numpad Bottom Sheet: You are no longer restricted to presets. Set any duration up to 999 minutes using the new custom input interface.
- Smart Chips: The UI dynamically toggles between standard presets and your custom time.

Partial Progress Saving
- Finish Early: You can now stop a session manually. If you've focused for at least one minute, FaceDown will save that progress to your history rather than discarding the session.
- Context-Aware Dialogs: New warnings alert you if a session is too short to be saved, ensuring your stats stay accurate.

Home Screen Widgets (Jetpack Glance)
Stay focused without even opening the app. We've introduced two new widgets:
- Streak Widget: A modern, Material 3 centered layout to track your daily focus streak.
- Daily Focus Widget: Displays your total focus minutes for the current day at a glance.
- Smart Sync: Widgets automatically refresh whenever a session ends or the app enters the foreground.

How to Migrate (APK to Play Store)
If you are moving from a manual APK installation to the Play Store version, follow these steps to keep your data:
- Update: Download and update FaceDown to 1.2 using the apk below
- Export: On the app, go to Settings > Data Settings > Export to JSON. Save this file to your device.
- Install: Download the Play Store Version. (Note: You may need to uninstall the old APK first).
- Import: In the new Play Store app, go to Settings > Data > Import from JSON and select your saved file.
- Done: Your history will be merged automatically!

Version 1.1.0 - The AMOLED Update
This update introduces one of the most requested visual features and an expansion of the community-driven translations.
What’s New
- AMOLED Dark Mode: Experience a "true black" interface. This new theme option provides a pure black background that looks stunning on OLED screens and helps conserve battery.
- Maltese Language Support: We are excited to welcome Maltese-speaking users to the app with full localization support, a big thank you to Matthias Zahra who made this possible.
Improvements
- Backwards Compatibility: Reduced the minimum requirement from Android 13 to Android 10. FaceDown is now accessible to a much wider range of devices! (Resolves #4)
- Translation Overhaul: Improvements to the accuracy and flow of Spanish, French, and Hindi translations, big thank you to Dennis González Rodríguez for helping out with the Spanish translation.
- Smarter Theme Selection: The theme dialog now dynamically reflects your active choice, including the new "Dark (AMOLED)" state.
What's Next
A handful of people kindly offered to test FaceDown so it can be published into the Google Play Store, I can confirm now that I have enough testers and we are looking at a release date in around two weeks time, 18th Feb. I will update this repo with that information once it goes live. I have had lots of feedback and suggestions regarding how to improve FaceDown, I have read every single one of these and I am planning to implement these suggestions next, including:
- Allowing to save progress when needing to stop a timer early
- Technical debt to improve the efficiency of FaceDown

I got lucky to get featured in HowToMen's video, and I am truly thankful for that opportunity. Regarding FOSS, I would love to one day open source this project, however I still feel like there lots to polish until it's ready to do that.
