Autolauncher Scripts and Setup for removable drive based software. Inspired by PC console projects with removable storage as a cartridge systems like Kazeta OS and LewdMeat's SSD Dock and Cartridge system on MakerWorld.
I wanted my own system to auto launch on a Windows PC with minimal "cartridge" configuration, and no Wine configurations for each games on Linux. Please refer to the Setup Guide for the configurations of the Files and Task Scheduler and how it all currently works.
Please note, this project is not pretty. It's made with a very limited understanding of Windows' inner workings and some assistance from AI (the mutex lock in the powershell script for example)
I'd appreciate some collaborative assistance to get more than just a mostly working prototype. It would be really cool to get the community together to build a fully flushed out system. I've tested it out with some GOG.com games installed on an SD card, and it's working alright, but not perfectly.
- BREAKING: The scripts will automatically run every 507 event. While the
launcher.bathas a trigger to stop if the application is already running, It will autolaunch if the drive is plugged in, even if the target application has been previously closed. I am open to help with this issue! - This only works for removable drives (SD Cards or Flash Drives, no USB to SSD or HDD)
- Command window opens anytime a 507 event is triggered. I could use help refining the events or at the least hiding the cmd pop-up, as it pops up frequently or anytime any removable drive is inserted
I have tons of old smaller SSDs and HDDs sitting around with no purpose. My main NVME is getting clogged with 30-80GB games, and I thought "why not make a cartridge system, learn more about Windows, and save my drive's space". I cannot bring myself to throw out all these borderline useless HDDs and SSDs with less that 500GB capacity.
