Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added snapshot-version correlation checks for supported request handling. Versions are classified as current, stale but tolerated, missing but tolerated, or unchecked when no current version is available; these classifications do not block calls.
  • Validation
    • Invalid snapshot-version values are rejected, including negative, fractional, exponent-form, non-integer, and out-of-range values.
    • Correlator fields are accepted by direct decoding under the documented parameter rules. The main dispatch path still rejects them until its schema supports the field.

Optional snapshot_version allow-listed at decode, disposition
recorded test-observably, stale proceeds (S-F flips later). Field
pending schema allowance in pinned ipc-api (tripwire test pins it).

Review: APPROVE (PX-1332 ai-0302-e2-reviewer).
Gates: fmt + clippy + workspace tests + just check, green.

📝 Walkthrough

The endpoint adds optional snapshot_version parsing and tolerant correlator classification. Direct decoding accepts valid correlators under defined parameter rules. Dispatch continues to refuse correlator-bearing requests at gate 5.

Changes: Snapshot correlator

Layer / File(s) Summary
Correlator contract and classification
crates/bitty-ai-endpoint/src/lib.rs
Adds public correlator types and helpers. Present values must be nonnegative integer tokens within the u64 range. Classifications distinguish current, stale tolerated, missing tolerated, and unchecked sightings. Only ai.mcp_snapshot supplies a current version.
Decode acceptance and dispatch boundary
crates/bitty-ai-endpoint/src/lib.rs
Direct decoding accepts a valid correlator with shaped parameters, or as the only field for selected fieldless methods. Other extra fields remain refused. Tests confirm that dispatch still refuses correlator-bearing requests at gate 5.

Direct callers can receive inconsistent handling of duplicate correlators. Reject duplicates in the shared parser; this bounded issue does not otherwise block merging.

CodeRabbit review addressed (pushed): duplicate snapshot_version members now refuse with InvalidRequest in correlator_of, so every decode path (direct parser/handler included, not just gate-5 dispatch) enforces the one-optional-correlator rule — no silent first-wins. New duplicate_correlator_refuses_invalid_request test covers parse/decode/handler paths. Local gates green (fmt + clippy -D warnings + 87/87 endpoint tests).
