Review comments at @ARCHITECTURE.md:
- Around line 16-18: Correct the architecture diagram by placing
bitty-ipc-winpipe above bitty-ipc-auth, or at the same level, so the dependency
direction matches the manifests. Also remove the completed “Windows named pipe
support in bitty-ipc-auth” future-work item.
Review comments at @crates/bitty-ipc-devtools/src/devtools/serve.rs:
- Around line 401-404: Update the Windows proof binding in binding_matches and
matches_pipe_with to compare the retained probe handle’s connection identity,
using PipeConnection::same_connection (Arc::ptr_eq on inner) or the equivalent
existing identity mechanism, while retaining the client_pid comparison as an
additional check. Ensure the recheck closure and served stream validate the same
pipe connection rather than only the originating process.
Review comments at @crates/bitty-ipc-winpipe/src/ffi.rs:
- Around line 516-561: Update the overlapped read, write, and accept_connection
operations to create a distinct manual-reset event per call and assign it to
OVERLAPPED.hEvent, keeping the event alive through completion. For every
GetOverlappedResultEx failure after ERROR_IO_PENDING, call cancel_and_drain
before returning, including timeout, broken-pipe, and other errors; preserve the
existing result classification after draining.
- Around line 626-635: Update the CreateFileW call in the pipe-opening code to
include SECURITY_SQOS_PRESENT and SECURITY_IDENTIFICATION alongside
FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, importing both constants from
windows_sys::Win32::Storage::FileSystem. Preserve the existing open behavior
while enforcing identification-level client impersonation.
- Around line 449-458: Update the pipe connection flow around ConnectNamedPipe
to retry after ERROR_NO_DATA: disconnect the same handle with
DisconnectNamedPipe, honor shutdown, reset OVERLAPPED state, and retry. Also
handle ERROR_NO_DATA and ERROR_BROKEN_PIPE from GetOverlappedResultEx by
recycling the instance and retrying, while preserving existing success, pending,
and unrelated-error behavior; add DisconnectNamedPipe to the relevant Windows
pipes import.
- Around line 314-316: Update the invalid-handle error path in the Windows pipe
listener, including the corresponding path around the later instance check, to
map ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED to io::ErrorKind::AddrInUse when first_instance is
enabled. Preserve the original OS error for all other failures so
bind_windows_pipe_listener can report existing or foreign instances as
Unavailable.

- Around line 623-625: Update cancel_and_drain to return the drained completion
count when GetOverlappedResult succeeds, otherwise None; in read and write,
return Ok(transferred) when the drained count is greater than zero before
propagating the timeout/error. Update accept_connection to ignore the new return
value while preserving its existing behavior.

Summary
Shared Windows named-pipe transport consumed by
bittyCTX-1405 (issues #2244/#2243):bitty-ipc-winpipecrate: protected current-user-only DACL (O:<sid>D:P(A;;GA;;;<sid>)), post-create endpoint attestation (owner SID plus every ACE),PIPE_REJECT_REMOTE_CLIENTS, overlapped I/O with bounded read/write timeouts, and client/server process token SID queries. Allunsafelives in the privateffimodule; the crate root deniesunsafe_code.bitty-ipc-auth: WindowsVerifiedPeerSID attestation (current_windows_user_sid,verify_windows_peer_for_connection);VerifiedPeercomparison now includes the SID on Windows.bitty-ipc-devtools: Windows serve path reuses the existingserve_connection_innerloop, so framing (256 KiB), continuation reassembly (1 MiB logical), RC-9 budget, timeouts, dispatcher, and scope checks are identical. Addsresolve_windows_pipe_path_from_env(instance-derived default, no hardcoded pipe name),bind_windows_pipe_listener,ServeContext::bind_connected_pipe, andserve_bound_pipe_connection_with_endpoint_budget.debug.inspectdenial, foreign-SID refusal, oversize-frame typed error, current-user recheck; platform-neutral pipe-name derivation and shared-bound tests. No TCP, no allow-all fallback, no new authority. Non-Windows builds compile to an empty transport surface.
