Welcome to the boatymonpy wiki!
To load the python code onto an ESP32:
Download Thonny from here and install, download links near the bottom of the page > https://thonny.org/
Download the latest stable firmware from here > https://micropython.org/download/esp32/ (tested with - GENERIC : esp32-20210418-v1.15.bin). Sometimes it is necessary to press and hold the "Boot" button on the ESP32 then click install, once the process starts you can release the boot button.
With ESP32 attached by USB, start Thonny and go to Run|select interpreter, then ESP32 as interpreter and ESP port, then click "install or update firmware" and follow the process, using the firmware downloaded previously
Now the esp32 should show in Thonny, press "stop" icon to connect.
Now hold CTL and click to highlight the lib folder and all the .py files in Thonny, and right click> "upload to /" , those files should now be uploaded to the ESP32, click the Stop icon to reset the ESP.
