Investigations... Questions
I'm just jotting a few thought down, so I won't forget to look into this. But if anyone who stumbles upon this page of lonesome musings is left with questions, answers or thought about them, do get in touch!
Further testing with Strapi is very promising. I finished another project with the exact same basis (Nuxt + Nuxt content on Netlify) and successfully hooked it up to a Strapi API with a Mongo database, hosted on the free tier of Heroku. It's a tad slow, especially after an hour of inactivity when the API gets no requests (Heroku free tier goes to sleep) but it works like a charm and is much more user friendly than GitHub PR's.
Strapi needs hosting on a server that provides database options. Heroku is a popular option and has free tiers for small projects. First tests setting it up with PostgreSQL were unsuccessful though, but Heroku is still quite mysterious to me at the moment.
In order to implement certain features we would need things like a database system, maybe user authentication, and so forth. Since we are using a very simple serverless, static site, we need extra services. I'm currently looking into Strapi, based on this comment https://github.com/nuxt/content/issues/37#issuecomment-665193675 in a Nuxt issues thread. Can we use this headless API server to get content in the hub? The only block seems the database. Does Netlify support nosql or Mongo or whatever system is cool right now?
