The "v2.6 interface, perfected" release: the liquid-glass web dashboard is
restored as THE interface with a dedicated desktop window (WebView2 frame,
your default browser as fallback - any browser, never forced to Edge),
every 2.7/2.8 feature kept, plus new dashboard spotlights and the two
requested CLI launchers.

Added

• Dashboard Highlights - a live, clickable row of the newest modules
  (Firmware & platform, Secure Boot, Driver ages, Games detected, Process
  Reducer, Security Scan, DiskScope, Benchmark), filled from real machine
  data as soon as the APIs answer, rendered from boot.
• Featured pack categories - the Packs page opens on ★ "In the spotlight"
  with the four flagship presets (Esport, Low latency, Fast clean boot,
  Privacy lock-down), plus per-category chips; featured cards get an accent
  border and a star.

Changed

• v2.6 launch chain restored, browser-agnostic - double-click opens the
  web dashboard in the dedicated desktop WebView2 frame; if that window
  cannot be created, the dashboard opens in the DEFAULT browser - any
  browser, never forced to Edge. New --browser flag skips the dedicated
  window on purpose. The D2D window stays available via --native but is
  no longer a silent fallback.
• Branding back to v2.6 style: "BIOS guide" nav label, "WINDOWS GAMING
  CONTROL CENTER" splash tag, About text reworded (compiled C++20 + HTML/

OptimizeKit v2.8.0 — Web dashboard as the app window, standalone CLI, 71 tweaks

[2.8.0] — 2026-09-23

The "same interface everywhere" release: the exe now opens the web
dashboard in an app window - pixel-identical to the browser dashboard -
and the launcher .bat/.ps1 work standalone (no exe required) with the full
module set in admin and non-admin menus. 24 PowerShell-only tweaks added for
full engine parity, plus fresh screenshots generated from the live UI.

Changed

• Web dashboard is the default window - double-clicking the exe opens the
  WebView2 frame hosting the embedded dashboard: exactly the interface users
  know from the browser (themes, Ctrl+K palette, games library), with no Edge
  window, no tabs, no address bar. If the WebView2 runtime is missing, the app
  silently falls back to the native Direct2D dashboard instead of opening a
  browser. --native forces the D2D window; --app still works.
• Better app frame - dynamic window title follows the dashboard tab, F5 /
  Ctrl+R reload works, context menu enabled for copying values, dark title bar
  kept.
• OptimizeKit.bat is a complete module menu (no exe needed): full/user
  kit, status, individual tweaks, network center, junk cleanup, firmware,
  drivers, restore-all - plus [D] app window and [W] web dashboard entries.
• OptimizeKit-cli.bat works without the exe - routes everything through
  the PowerShell engine; /exe opt-in flag uses the C++ CLI when built.

OptimizeKit v2.7.0 — Native window, firmware panel, driver updates, 77 tweaks

The "native window, closer to the metal" release: the app now opens as a pure
Win32/Direct2D window (no Edge, no WebView2, no browser dependency), 28 new
tweaks curated from WinUtil's current catalog, a live firmware panel and a
driver auto-update engine.

Added

• Native-first window — double-clicking the exe opens the Direct2D
  liquid-glass dashboard in a real Win32 window: no Edge/WebView2 component, no
  browser, nothing external. The web dashboard is still available via
  OptimizeKit.exe --app (WebView2 frame, previous behaviour).
• 28 new tweaks (77 total) — aligned on WinUtil's current tweaks.json:
  Widgets removal, Location tracking, Services-to-Manual (+
  SvcHostSplitThresholdInKB), Store recommended search, Delivery Optimization,

  state, TPM presence/version (Win32_Tpm + PnP fallback), VT-x/SVM + running
  hypervisor, modern standby vs S3, HPET, WPBT policy, dynamic tick /
  platform tick / platform clock (bcdedit), kernel dump level, svchost split
  threshold, pending-reboot flag. Endpoint GET /api/firmware, CLI
  OptimizeKit.exe --firmware. The app never writes firmware.
• Driver auto-update engine — real driver ages computed from the
  Control\Class driver store (GPU, audio, network, chipset), WAN-Miniport /
  inbox noise filtered out, oldest-first report, problem devices (CM problem
  codes), a Windows Update driver scan trigger (UsoClient, the same orchestrator
  the Settings app uses), pnputil /scan-devices rescan and vendor-page
  shortcuts. Endpoints /api/drvupdate/*, CLI OptimizeKit.exe --drvupdate.
• New native tabs — Firmware, Storage (drives with NVMe/SATA bus, largest
  files, one-click cleanups), Startup (Run keys + folders with reversible
  toggles) and a Settings tab (confirm actions, auto-backup, DNS management,
  restore-all) persisted to config.json.
• Web dashboard — Firmware view merged with the BIOS guide (live cards +
  the 12 firmware recommendation cards), Drivers view with the auto-update
  actions, Settings: DNS→DHCP reset, Delivery Optimization toggle, Store
  suggestions toggle.
• New icon — blue/violet gradient bolt on a dark glass tile, generated by
  tools/make_icon.py (multi-resolution .ico + PNG set).
• Quick benchmark on the native dashboard — the AnTuTu-style score can be
  run from the home tab; the result is remembered for the session.

Changed

• Launchers and the PowerShell engine bumped to v2.7; build CI passes
  -lwbemuuid -lcfgmgr32 for the new modules.
• build.bat invokes python with -I so the Microsoft Store python alias can
  no longer hang the build.
• Gaming profile no longer pulls ipv6_off or disk_cleanup automatically.

Fixed

• /api/firmware and /api/drvupdate/report could stall on server threads:
  COM is now initialized per-thread before every WMI read.
• store_search_off restored the ACL on the correct path.
• The v2.6 single-instance probe could leave zombie test instances bound to the
  dashboard port during smoke tests (cleaned up by the CI smoke test).

v2.2.0 — AnTuTu-style benchmark + 7 theme packs

Benchmark for real

• Composite score out of ~4000 — 1000 = mainstream reference (modern 8C/16T, DDR4-3600, NVMe Gen3). Every number measured on your machine, never invented.
• New single-core CPU test — games are ST-bound; you now see both. Weighted sub-scores: CPU multi 40% / single 15% / memory 20% / storage 25%.
• Fixed the old bench: the CPU kernel was optimized away by the compiler (fake huge numbers) and an int truncation made the total always 0. Kernel now has a real dependency chain; scores calibrated on a 10C/16T mainstream desktop.
• Bench view rebuilt — AnTuTu-style: big score ring, class (entry → high-end), verdict sentence, weighted bars with deltas vs previous run, raw values, 20-run history.
• First-run wizard suggests a benchmark — so before/after optimizing comparison exists from day one.

Themes that actually redefine the UI

• 7 full packs: Magma (crimson), Ocean (abyssal blue), Matrix (green), Violet, Gold, Steel, Rose.
• Each pack overrides background gradients, borders, glow and every chart color — not just the accent.
• Pack grid in Settings + pack swatches directly in the onboarding wizard. Persisted via config; ?theme=ocean deep link supported.
