Stay afloat with your timekeeping sidekick.
HoverTime is a free classroom and workshop timer that floats over your slides. It has ten themed vibes (from calm to game show to a cozy rainy window), built-in music, and partner-pairing prompts that keep a room moving.
▶ Use it: coachkarle.github.io/hovertime. Nothing to install, and no account needed.
- Float over your slides: pops the timer into a small always-on-top window, even over full-screen Google Slides or PowerPoint. Minimize it to a tiny icon, and dock it back anytime. With music on, Chrome can float it automatically when you switch to your slides.
- Ten vibes: Basic, Sand Timer, Wedge, 8-bit, Synthwave, Sunrise, Grow, Game Show, Cozy Rain, and Sci-Fi. Each has its own look, original music, and sound cues.
- Pair up, Rotation, Facilitate: random partner prompts, equal turns with a chime at each switch, and a full-screen view with room for instructions.
- Make it yours: color presets (including common school colors), fonts, and palettes.
- Accessible: text meets WCAG AA contrast, and animations respect "reduce motion".

- Float uses Chrome's Document Picture-in-Picture, so it needs desktop Chrome or Edge 116 or newer. Everything else works in any modern browser.
- It's a single self-contained HTML file. All music and sounds are synthesized live in the browser.
- Your settings are saved only in your own browser. The page loads its fonts from Google Fonts and counts anonymous visits with GoatCounter (no cookies, no personal data). Nothing else leaves your computer.
