asset tasks fail to install ffmpeg they don't use #209

Open

Description

@codekiln

mise run asset:add, asset:push, asset:fetch and asset:status stop before running. Each task declares ffmpeg="9.0", and on macOS arm64 mise fails to install it:

mise ERROR Failed to install conda:ffmpeg@9.0: conda package libvpx-1.17.0-h484c67d_0 not found in lockfile for macos-arm64
mise ERROR Version: 2026.10.4 macos-arm64 (2026-10-07)

Only asset:convert needs ffmpeg. On 2026-10-08 the 06-Tue and 07-Wed assets were tracked by running mise-tasks/asset/lib/assets.py add|push directly with uv run, skipping the task wrapper.

Acceptance:

  • add, push, fetch and status don't require ffmpeg.
  • The ffmpeg that asset:convert uses installs from the lockfile on macOS arm64, matching the conda:ffmpeg="9.0.2" that gitpa:media:upload already installs.

    PR #211 — B2 guide images has merged. It removes the unused FFmpeg declarations from asset:add, asset:push, asset:fetch and asset:status. The real add/push tasks and a fresh empty-cache fetch passed through their wrappers.

    The remaining acceptance item is asset:convert: it still declares ffmpeg="9.0", while gitpa:media:upload declares conda:ffmpeg="9.0.2". This issue stays open for the conversion declaration and macOS arm64 installation check. No implementation agent or dedicated worktree is running on #209; it remains normal priority behind #210 — independent proxy records.

    Worker episode_sources is advancing the remaining conversion declaration in issue209. Branch codex/209-asset-convert-ffmpeg, worktree /Users/Myer/ghq/github.com/codekiln/logseq-encode-garden/.worktrees/209-asset-convert-ffmpeg, Codex chat 01a110f1-45c5-7633-ad92-c6f9f7f131d8.

    Work is in progress: align asset:convert with the already working conda:ffmpeg 9.0.2 declaration, verify the macOS arm64 tool resolution, and run the existing WAV-to-MP3 conversion test. The non-conversion tasks were already fixed by PR211.

    Ready for review in PR #215 use working FFmpeg for asset conversion, commit 3ea78a73. asset:convert now uses the same explicit conda:ffmpeg 9.0.2 declaration as media upload.

    On this macOS arm64 host, mise resolves the installed package and FFmpeg/ffprobe run as 9.0.2. The existing conversion and asset tests pass, including rebuilding after a changed WAV. Commit checks passed. This completes the remaining acceptance item; PR211 already fixed the non-conversion wrappers.

    Worker episode_sources is idle awaiting review. Branch codex/209-asset-convert-ffmpeg, worktree /Users/Myer/ghq/github.com/codekiln/logseq-encode-garden/.worktrees/209-asset-convert-ffmpeg, Codex chat 01a110f1-45c5-7633-ad92-c6f9f7f131d8. The branch is clean and pushed. No merge performed.
