Security Policy for Campus Connect

The Coding Pundit team and the CSE Department of NIT Arunachal Pradesh take the security of the Campus Connect platform very seriously. We appreciate the invaluable work of security researchers and the community in helping us maintain a secure environment for our students, faculty, and vendors.

📋 Reporting a Security Vulnerability

If you believe you have discovered a security vulnerability in the Campus Connect platform, we ask that you help us by responsibly disclosing it privately.

Please DO NOT report security vulnerabilities through public GitHub issues.

Instead, please send an email to our private security alias:

codingclub@nitap.ac.in

Please include the following details in your report:

  • A clear and concise description of the vulnerability.
  • The steps required to reproduce the issue.
  • The potential impact of the vulnerability (e.g., data exposure, unauthorized access).
  • Any suggested mitigations or proof-of-concept code, if you have it.

🔒 Our Commitment

When you submit a vulnerability report, we are committed to the following process:

  1. Acknowledgement: We will acknowledge receipt of your report within 48 hours.
  2. Investigation: We will investigate the issue to confirm the vulnerability and determine its severity. We will keep you updated on our progress.
  3. Remediation: We will work to develop and deploy a fix for the vulnerability as quickly as possible.
  4. Disclosure & Recognition: Once the vulnerability is patched, we will coordinate with you on the public disclosure. We are happy to publicly credit you for your discovery in our "Hall of Fame" section below.

🛡️ Scope

We are interested in reports for vulnerabilities in the following areas:

  • The main Campus Connect web application.
  • Our official API routes.
  • The security of our Docker configurations.

Out of scope:

  • The underlying infrastructure of the campus network.
  • Vulnerabilities in third-party services we use (e.g., Next.js, Prisma, NextAuth.js). Please report these directly to the respective project maintainers.
  • Vulnerabilities in the core software of our self-hosted services (PostgreSQL, MinIO, Redis). Please report these to their upstream projects.
  • Social engineering or physical access attacks.
