Summary

This PR redesigns the 2014books web experience from a simple static archive page into a magazine-style reading experience.

What changed

  • Added a magazine-style hero masthead with issue framing, badges, and CTA buttons
  • Added an editor’s note section explaining the project origin, the verified 97-book count, and the remaining 3-book gap
  • Added featured chapter cards with large numbering, summaries, and reading links
  • Reworked the full chapter archive into a more readable editorial layout
  • Improved the book archive with stronger visual hierarchy and real-time search
  • Isolated low-confidence missing-book candidates into a research appendix
  • Added sticky navigation and back-to-top interaction
  • Upgraded the visual system with warm paper tones, serif headings, dark red accents, better spacing, and more comfortable reading typography

Validation

  • make web PASS
  • make pdf PASS
  • make epub PASS
  • No external CDN
  • No complex frontend framework
  • Official books.json remains at 97 verified books
  • Missing candidates remain isolated from the official book list

Notes

This PR does not attempt to fill the missing 3 books. The project continues to treat 97 books as the verified in-repository count, with low-confidence candidates kept separate for future research.
