Excerpt from the Wiktionary entry for “midden”
Midden is a showcase of my capability as a technologist. This is for recruiters (look! I'm a full-stack web developer!), for friends (hey! Here are some cool tools you can use!), and for my own education. My operating principles in building Midden are threefold: I'd like it to be usable, striking to look at, and enterprise-grade, following all the best practices that the 2026 web dev landscape has to offer.
Inside this repo, you'll find the frontends for two applications: Midden, which is a personal mono-app/hub of links to my work, and Canteen, which is a minimalist (yet technologically-sophisticated) recipe storage/sharing app. These apps, and all apps I'll make in the future for this project, have a shared UI sensibility and shared role-based authentication. Currently, everything is offered for free and open-source, but should anything become particularly popular or valuable, I'm not above setting up a Patreon or a Ko-fi in the future.
If you're interested in the technology behind/architecture of the app, please click here for a detailed breakdown. To learn about the upcoming features on my roadmap for these apps, click here.
