On Count / Pump Count not updating

First off - thanks for your work on Aroma Link integration!

I was able to replace my previous setup based on RESTapi which I made in line with instructions in the HA community forum ( https://community.home-assistant.io/t/whole-home-cold-air-scent-diffuser-automation-is-possible-without-crappy-apps/541137/21 ), the setup worked flawlessly and I can see my scent diffuser showing okay incl. polled on/off status etc.

Among others, On Count and Pump Count sensors are showing (I got 473 activations and 92705 diffusions, respectively) but not updating - the values seem to be only imported on device setup but not updated afterwards when polling the data. I must note that in Aroma Link app I cannot see these values, so chances are my diffuser does not support respective values reporting - but hopefully this is not the case, in the end some values were downloaded on device inclusion. Would you please have a look on whether updating these values on polling interval is possible?

I believe I have fixed your issue, let me know if the changes I made didn't update yours, I did do a lot of overhaul changes since this issue, so you may need to remove and re-download the repo.

Hi, thanks for looking into this.

I removed the integration completely and installed from scratch, the setup went okay and I see the new "Polling interval" setting.

On Count / Pump Count seem to be still not updating. That is, in the 20 minutes interval since integration install I'm not seeing changes. I reduced polling interval to 30 seconds, not sure if it worked (the entity for theis setting got temporarily unavailable after trying to change but then the saved the 30 second setting is showing).

I have to say, with the previous integration On Count / Pump Count sometime changed - some days once a day, some days no change was registered. This makes me think the issue could be not the integration but my diffuser reporting these values at longer intavals. I will monitor and revert after a week or so.

Let me make sure I add some accurate debugging logs to this. Then I'll have you update and then turn on debug mode on the integration, and we can see what's going on. Give me a few hours to take a look at this.

Sorry for missing the feedback above. However, it looks like my On Count / Pump count are updating at more or less regular 1-day intervals, so I believe this works as intended now.

One question though - what's the difference betwen the values (On Count vs. Pump Count)? I normally get approximately 250 "pump counts" per day and about 860 "on counts"...

To be honest those two attributes are passed through the API but there is not any description or any API reference I have found. I've basically had to investigate the http calls being sent from the iPhone app in order to get any of the information on the endpoints or data.

Follow-up: the polling side of this has been working since the March fix (thanks for confirming!), and the ~daily update cadence turns out to be device-driven — per the API reference we now have in docs/API.md, the counters "only update when the device pushes data upstream on its own schedule — cannot be forced via API" — so daily-ish is expected behavior.

Two more things worth closing the loop on:

1. What the two values actually mean (@7leman7's earlier question): reverse-engineering in docs/API.md established that the web API's runCount — what On Count shows — accumulates seconds of work time (+10 after a 10s cycle), while airPumpCount — Pump Count — counts pump activations (+1 per cycle). Your March numbers line up: ~860 "on counts"/day ≈ 250 pumps/day × ~3.4s work duration.

2. Today's control reorganization (feature: Reorganize controls, add API docs #33) replaced these two sensors with derived "Total Run Time"/"Total Diffusion Time" (hours) sensors, which would have orphaned your counter entities on upgrade. fix: restore On Count and Pump Count sensors with long-term statistics #37 restores On Count and Pump Count alongside the new sensors — same entity IDs and values as before — and additionally marks them total_increasing, so Home Assistant now records proper long-term statistics for them.
