PhotoDrop

Transfer photos from iPhone to Windows over local Wi-Fi without iCloud, iTunes or third-party cloud services.

PhotoDrop runs a small local web server on your Windows PC. Open it in Safari on your iPhone, choose photos, and receive privacy-friendly JPEG copies with metadata removed.

How it works

Requirements

  • Windows
  • .NET 8 SDK (for development)

Running locally

dotnet run

Allow Windows Firewall access when prompted.

Open the displayed address on your iPhone while both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Example:

http://192.168.1.25:8080

Select photos in Safari.

The received JPEG files will be saved to:

Pictures/PhotoDrop

Building

dotnet publish -c Release

Privacy

PhotoDrop does not:

  • upload files to the Internet
  • use cloud storage
  • require an Apple ID
  • modify original photos

Images are re-encoded in the browser before upload, producing clean JPEG copies without embedded metadata.


Limitations

Current version:

  • Photos only
  • Live Photos are imported as a single image
  • Videos are not supported
  • Output format is always JPEG
