Cocoa Recorder (formerly Reccoo) is a small recorder that captures whatever your PC is playing. Streaming music, game audio, live broadcasts — anything coming out of your speakers can be recorded with a single click and saved as WAV or MP3. Since it records the audio signal directly (not through a microphone), recordings are clean with no background noise. And while you record, Cocoa the pixel cat sits on a crescent moon and keeps you company. 🌙

📦 Get the latest Windows release — download CocoaRecorder.exe (Reccoo.exe on releases before the rename) ( )

Once at launch the app asks GitHub whether a newer release exists and marks the Updates link with a NEW badge if so — nothing is sent about you, and it never downloads anything by itself. Turn the check off with "CheckForUpdates": false in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CocoaRecorder\settings.json (the countdown meow lives there too, as "CountdownSound").

It is a self-contained single-file executable with the .NET runtime bundled in. On first launch, SmartScreen may warn about an "unrecognized app" — this is because the binary is not code-signed yet. Click "More info" → "Run anyway" to start it.

🎙️ Recording

• System audio capture — records whatever comes out of your speakers, losslessly (WASAPI loopback)
• Mini mode — the cat-face button in the title bar shrinks the whole app into a tiny always-on-top card you can drag anywhere. Record, stop and set the countdown right there, or press the global hotkey shown on the card (F3 where it's free) from any window. While recording, Cocoa puts on headphones and bobs along while pixel notes float up.
• Adjustable countdown — set 0–10 seconds of lead-in before recording starts. Leave it at 0 to record the moment you press the button, or stretch it to give yourself time to switch windows. Cocoa meows each count so you hear it land even from another window — mute her with the cat-face button next to the countdown. The meow never plays at 0, so your take always starts clean
• Pause / resume — skip ads or unwanted sections and pick up where you left off
• WAV / MP3 toggle — keep the original as WAV, or save space with MP3 (LO / MED / HI quality)

👀 Fun to watch

• A night sky that breathes — 141 stars twinkle on their own clocks behind a hand-drawn pixel moon, and the whole hero shifts colour with the recording state
• Live waveform — the current audio runs across 56 pixel bars, and settles into a quiet flat line the moment you stop
• Input level meter — an 18-cell pixel meter shows the volume at a glance
• Cocoa the cat — sits on the moon, perks her ears up and sways while recording, curls up asleep when you pause, and speaks up now and then
• KOR | EN language toggle — flip the whole UI (mascot chatter included) between Korean and English right from the title bar

📼 After recording

• Four tabs — record, library, settings and a four-step guided tour Cocoa narrates herself (F1)
• Library — every recording is a row with its own colour bar. Click one and play, reveal-in-folder and delete glide out from the right
• Mini player — play recordings right inside the app, with a progress line under the row
• Drag to export — drag a card into a folder or a chat window to copy the file
• Recycle-bin deletes — deleted files go to the Recycle Bin, so mistakes are recoverable
• Keyboard shortcuts — Space to start and stop, P to pause, Ctrl+O for the folder, F1 for help

🛠️ Building from source

All you need is the .NET 9 SDK and Windows 10/11.

Audio is captured from the default output device. New installs save files to Music\Cocoa Recorder\ as CocoaRecorder_yyyyMMdd_HHmmss.{wav|mp3}; existing Music\Reccoo\ libraries continue to open in place.
