👋 Hi, I'm Lorraine

Analytics Engineering Consultant at The Information Lab US · NYC via South Africa

I build analysis-ready data models and reporting infrastructure for clients in financial services and beyond — from schema design for Tableau Cloud & Pulse, to SCD strategy, semantic layers in Salesforce Data360, and debugging production pipelines.

A non-linear path through engineering, manufacturing, hospitality, and childcare shaped the people-centered approach I bring to every data project.

🌱 Currently learning: dbt · AWS · Databricks · Snowflake

🔭 Currently working on:

  • 📚 Data Engineering Office Hours at The Information Lab
  • ✍️ Technical blog posts on data warehousing & modern pipelines
  • 🧪 Practice challenges for people learning the modern data stack

💼 Background: Two years as a Tableau & Alteryx consultant building Workday-sourced HR analytics for employee relations, compensation, HR ops, and risk reporting. A non-linear path through engineering, manufacturing, childcare, and hospitality, before that, which is where the people-centered approach to data comes from.

💼 Work Experience

Analytics Engineer – The Informationlab (US)

2025 - Present

  • Designs and maintains schemas within a medallion architecture to produce analysis- and Tableau-ready datasets with consistent, reliable metric definitions.
  • Translates reporting and analytical requirements into well-structured, reusable tables in close collaboration with data analysts.
  • Partners with data engineering teams to support efficient, scalable data pipelines aligned with CI/CD, data governance standards, and modern engineering best practices.

Data Analyst – The Informationlab US

2023 – 2025

  • Modeled and standardized HR and people-operations data extracted from Workday reports into analytics-ready tables for downstream reporting and analysis.
  • Designed and automated 10 Alteryx transformation workflows to cleanse, join, and structure source data, saving ~1 hour of manual effort per workflow and improving data consistency.
  • Built curated analytics datasets for employee relations, HR operations, compensation, and agile delivery metrics, consolidating disparate inputs to reduce time to insight and streamline reporting.
  • Implemented automated reporting logic for employee relations data, including missing-metric handling and trend calculations, reducing report preparation time from 3–4 days to a few hours and eliminating ~80–90% of manual effort.
  • Defined standardized KPIs, health metrics, and trend logic across HR and risk-related datasets, improving metric reliability, stakeholder visibility, and reducing manual analysis by up to 60%.
  • Authored comprehensive analytics documentation in Confluence covering data sources, transformations, calculations, and reporting logic, reducing onboarding and knowledge transfer time by an estimated 50%.
  • Led analytics enablement through one-on-one analyst training and reusable best-practice guides, increasing self-service adoption and consistent use of standardized metrics.
  • Authored technical blog posts on analytics engineering topics, including data warehousing fundamentals, modern data pipelines, and transformation best practices, contributing to internal and external analytics knowledge sharing.

Mechanical Engineer – Ducommun Incorporated

Aug 2021 – Dec 2023 · Quality & Planner Engineer → Manufacturing Engineering Technician → Sheet Metal Fabricator

Progressed through three roles in aerospace manufacturing — from hands-on fabrication with 5-axis laser equipment to creating 300+ AS9102 first-piece production reports for Boeing, Sikorsky, Bell Helicopter, and Northrop Grumman. Foundation in engineering rigor, documentation standards, and root-cause analysis that I now bring to data work.
