ASNT-106: Microsoft Store: defer updates on Store installs #136
A qrate installed from the Microsoft Store must not run qrate's own updater. Store policy 10.8.3 requires that products "must be installed and updated only through the Microsoft Store", and a self-updating package fails certification.
The codebase already models exactly this situation for MSI installs, which are pushed by GPO/SCCM/Intune and therefore not self-managed. This task adds the Store as a second non-self-managed kind. It is the Rust half of Store delivery and carries no dependency on a Partner Center account, so it can land before any packaging exists.
Scope
A new InstallKind variant for Store installs, serialized as windows-store to match the existing kebab-case kinds.
Exclude it from InstallKind::self_managed().
A Store-specific disabled reason in the updater UI.
Out of scope
MSIX packaging and Store submission — see ASNT-107.
crates/updater/src/lib.rs — add the variant; widen the self_managed() exclusion beside WindowsMsi.
crates/app/src/update_check.rs — initial_status() already matches per kind. The WindowsMsi arm reads "Updates are managed by your administrator", which is wrong for a Store install; add an arm naming the Store.
Extend msi_installations_are_never_self_managed rather than adding a second near-identical test.
Definition of done
An install marker with kind: "windows-store" round-trips.
A Store-marked installation never polls for updates and reports a reason that names the Store.
cargo test -p updater -p app passes. No other crate changes.
